Sorry, but I had presumed you wanted to maintain a little finesse in your flying style. If it's all about vertical a GT-80 should do it. Otherwise I would keep it light and go with a G-26 lite from Cunningham or an MVVS on pipes.
You added 120 oz to it! LOL How long did it take to break ground. LOL
I am done with this unrealistic thread though. I cant describe how to get it to hover AND fly, any better than I already have. I want a Ferrarri, but not willing to pay the price, so I will pimp my Geo instead.

Re: Sig Rascal 110. G26ei G26 or G38?

I just got through putting a Quadra 35 custom (ported and polished at the factory) in a Sig Rascal 110 ... it fit nicely in the cowl with only the carb sticking out... AND it balanced at the manual's 4.5 inches exactly... so I put the 5 cell NiMh on the CG... Not sure what the Quadra weighs ... but it wasn't as heavy as a G-38...

Flew the maiden flight today and it is perfect...! Great power...! The Quadra is possible of turning near 11,000 rpms according to factory info. What can I say ... it flew great...! I only got to about 60% power today as this was the engine's maiden...

Previously I had a FPE 1.3 in the plane... ugh... Then I switched to electric... had an AXI 5320 in the plane with a 10s ... better than the FPE ... but not the best... felt like it would fall out of the sky...

What can I say... Sig Rascal 110 and Quadra 35cc ... a match made in heaven...

Hovering an airplane (any) is all about weight (plane) vs. power. To give a good suggestion for power, can you tell us what the weight of plane is RTF but without engine?

Re: Sig Rascal 110. G26ei G26 or G38?

I'm currently putting a Rascal 110 together and waiting on my G26 Light from Ralph C. I've seen a few of the Rascals fly with the 26cc with a B&B header pipe which is what I'm going with and one with a Mac header and a beer can muffler. I didn't see anyone hovering the plane but they seem to have more than enough power. Can't wait to get mine goinig.

two things - I recently went from a bone stock 110 with a stock G-23 to a G-38 with ignition in the mount. it flew great on the G-23, but the G-38 is a different plane altogether. However, it won't hover (yet) but it's close.

My friends in our club recently saw a Girl (yep) flying a 110 with a G-26 and tuned pipe (macs?) and she hovered it all day long, right on the deck. I'll ask where they were at when they watched this.

one piece of advice - if you do a g-38, put the servos in the tail, tank on the cg - you will balance slightly nose heavy, but not noticeably so in flight. Also, when you hinge your control surfaces, make sure you have MAXIMUM travel.

I think I am going to go with the G26 Lite with a pipe from R.C.
With my chinesse LS26cc POS it would almost hover then fall down. So with a Zenoah G26lite and pipe I think it will do a lot better. I will try to get the weight of the plane and all Tomorrow.

I had one with an eveloution 26 . flys well That was a tight fit Too tight. If i did it again i would go eveloution 35.
You will never get a zenoha or crrp engine in this plane.
Made a big mistake === Sold it .

A G26 with my RC EXL ignition it it weighs less than 2 1/2 lb...17 lbs thrust with a Mejzlik 18-6, 9000 rpm...10,000 with a Mac's Products pipe....
My very close Grish Brothers thrust chaft shows 22 lbs thrust with that combo...17 lbs is verified, have not tried the pipe for thrust...
Facts, not hearsay......
My customers with Sig Rascals say they can knife edge the length of the runway, have not done it myself...
I will put one of my G26s up against any other 26 on the planet for power, with any exhaust...As long as both use the same combinations of exhaust and prop....
Can't match the price of the Chinese engines.
Find another 26 that will run and LAST at 14,000 rpm.....

So any referance? G26 or G26ei

Is there anything that seperates the G26EI over the G26? Is the extra $50 worth it to get the EI?

Thanks,

Frank

I'm flying a rascal with a Ralph C G-38. Starts on one flip, idles for days and days.

I like power, but I really go for dependability. We tow gliders, and drop big parachutists, and lots of candy.

And, I have lots of power.

Re: Sig Rascal 110. G26ei G26 or G38?

I flew my Rascal 110 all last summer with one of Ralphs G26 engines with a B&B header pipe swinging a XOAR 18X6 prop. It will hover the Rascal for about 5-10 seconds and then it starts to fade off. I knew of someone that had a beer can muffler on a header pipe and I hear it would hover the Rascal fine. I don't know how good the pull out was. Never saw it myself.

G26s aren't tne strongest since the DLE 30 came out..The boost port in the DLE30 cylinder gives it the edge with larger props...The jusry is still out on the SAP, don't have mine to test yet...The DLE is almost as strong as the G38 with a 20 inch prop and is lighter....

I think the Rascal 110 would be a great fit for the JC-28cc, swings an 18x6 at almost 9k rpm's.
