Your best bet may to get a 30cc warbird, hang a da50 on it, and prop it for speed. Like a 20x14 prop or something.

Or maybe a 50cc warbird (there are quite a few out there) with a gp 88. High pitch prop selection may be limited though.

I set up a 80" Seagull Nemesis with a DLE 60 twin on just headers, still breaking in on the motor but it's fast already.. Got a 22X12 on it and only swinging it at 6400, when she is ready I will drop to a 20X15 AT6 prop or a 19X14 and get her into the 9's.. It will be a monster then and the plane flies awesome...

Bringing this thread back. Anybody know of any current offerings? Anything without oversized control surfaces seems like slim pickings.

Its hard to beat a Top Flite warbird for speed. In my club we fly DLE 61's with an APC 20x15 AT6 props and they really move. One of mine is the P47 with a DLE85 and a 24x14 prop. She moves right along lol

Yeah I would think a WWII warbird would be a great option. Maybe looking into the pylon racing world could net some results? I am certain that community would be a great resource for modifying a warbird kit into a high speed racer. That would make a great build thread (hint hint)

I agree, but honestly, that's kind of why I'm looking for something else. I have the FW-190(plus a half built Corsair kit)and have about 6 flights on it, and it's a great flier. my problem is, it has the Robart electric retracts, and the retracts are away on their second trip back to Robart, so I'm looking for non-retracting options.

You can always get sierra retracts, you will have to do a little modding to make them fit but they last a lot longer and are way more robust. You could always hand launch lmao.
