Putting new plug caps on the ignition and a extension on throttle servo should have nothing to do with the EQ6.
Sound like user error to me and the servo isn't hooked up right or even plugged in.
.
Things to check.
#1 : Is the servo plugged in ?
#2 : When you put the extension on the throttle servo, do you have the polarity correct ?
#3 : Do you have the extension plug into the EQ6 correct polarity ?
#4 : Do you have the extension plugged into the right port on the EQ6 ?
#5 : Is the extension bad ? Broken signal wire ?
#6 : Does the servo operate correctly with out the engine running ?

I hope that you had the plane in a restraint ?
Another hint, I always check that all servos are working before I start my engines.
