DL 50 MOTOR

Hi every one, I am interested in any info on the DL50 gas motor, I have put one in to a T/F Giant Scale P51. The motor was run in as per the instructions, in the model and ran perfectly with a T/F 22 X 6 -8 It never missed a beat. Has anyone flown a model with one, if so how did it go ? I hope to fly the P 51 as soon as the weather cools down a bit, It,s been perty warm here in Perth, for the past month or so the temp has been around the mid 30s up to 38c and being a ex pom I dont like it too hot, hope to hear from some one soon

search the site for "dl50" and you will find several good threads about these engines, should be good in a tf giant p51, it will porvide near unlimited vertical at the suggested weight from tf

ummmmm....whats a pom?

Cools down a bit ?? Jeez. We wish we had that problem right now !!

I can thoroughly recommend the DL50. I've had mine for a bout 5 or 6 months in a 2.12m Comp Arf Extra. Plane weights about 7kg and has unlimited vertical with a Mezjlik 23x8 prop. I know its not scale but I'd recommend this prob - its a perfect match. The one qualification I have is about the mounts I got with mine - it was one of the earlier ones with the extruded aluminum mounts. The sheared off a couple of weeks ago during an IMAC comp - almost caused me to loose the plane. The standoffs that come with the latest versions should be OK.

I set mine up with a MTW canister exhaust - not the cheapest option but I am happy with the result.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new DL100 is going to be like.

I have the DL50 in a topflite P51, 8.6 kg with a topflite 22x6-10 prop, its still being run in

Has anyone had any problems with interferance from DL ignition modules? I did a range test with the engine running prior to a test flight today and got a lot of interferance from the ign module, the problem was solved by running a earth wire from the module to the engine

The interferance just started, when I first run the motor in it was in a giant scale corsair and I never had any problems, and the motor was set up the same in both models, Weird

Hey Pommy,,I am IN OLD,, 38 is just warming up,,lol
My flying mates fav airplane is a Ultimate 56in Bipe with DL50,, i used to fly it almost as much as him,, well gess what,,i have brand new Ultimate kit delivered Yesterday,,and brand new DL50 to go in it,,i also have DL/A 56,, which is as good swings slightly larger prop,, made by same group of people,, Go the DL'SSSSS
