The LED was a bit of bling in a swag pen I got at a trade show. Its just a standard two lead LED.

All I did was solder and heat shrink up a servo extension to the anode and cathode and plugged it into the smart fly kill switch receiver just like you would the normal red LED.

The RGB diodes and driver are all built into the led itself, which is amazing since I can find 3 and 4 lead RGB LED's all day long, but not a two lead with driver circuitry built in.

I am trying to source these led's and then wire some up and offer them up for a couple bucks.
These should be very inexpensive to build up, assuming the LED's in quantities of 40 or 50 don't cost an arm and a leg.

Cool idea. If you can source them, shoot me a pm and I will get some from you.

Re: Duralite: Spark Switch

i have an question on this. i originally set mine up on dual jr power safe recievers and a 11x radio. i made a "Y" between the 2 reciever into the spark switch. set up a mix on the flap switch and it seemed to work fine. i was testing the system and if i turn off one reciever it kills the ignition.doesn't matter what reciever. infact it will only turn on if both receivers are on. i got rid of the mix and went to the trim settings in the menu. i now have 0% and 110% and it works fine now. but i had to go 110% or the LED would flicker. but it works normal now. but i would still like to have the failsafe option. so i would have to set up a mix for -100% again. is there a way to get it to work with the fail safe option but still work on just one reciever?

That isn't going to work the way you want it to work. You are basically trying to drive a single servo in this case a spark switch with two different signals. If both receivers are turned on and seeing the signal from the transmitter, then it works because they are both trying to do the same thing. As soon as you turn off one of the receivers, or if it goes into fail safe you have 1 receiver trying to turn the spark switch on and the other trying to turn it off.

You would need some kind of active circuit that monitors both of the receivers and then produces a single output to the spark switch to get the behavior that you want.

The smart fly ignition cut off has two input to allow it to be used with redundant receiver setups.

Just received this from Duralite. Be careful, I have pulled mine from the plane. I was having the issues they describe and I was pulling my hair out (which I have none of) trying to trace the issue.

Re: Duralite: Spark Switch

oops..someone just posted the pdf

deleting my question.

Looks like they are needing to ground the heat sink.

For those who are handy and don't want to wait for the em braid, you can solder a small jumper wire from that ground post to the heat sink.

easy fix
