Does anyone have a super tigre 51 that wont run right, one of the guys at my club had troubles with one and never worked out why and now it's happened with mine and it's had hardly any use and it happened right after i put it in a new plane.

Wish I had more experience with ST's. I know they are real sensitive to low end adjustment.

I sold mine after 6 tanks of just crazy inconsistency! It drove me nuts. YNOT member here is very knowledgeable about the easy fix. He says its slag in the carb somewhere. Maybe brass shavings??? Hey Tony, where are ya Mr. ST man...???

Ohhh, I got this, or at least what works very well for me.

You need a tip cleaning tool for a blow torch.

Find the size that fits, then go one size bigger. The brass spraybar seems to be so soft, that there always seems to be some slag in the spraybar. Clean that stuff out and blow it out with a airhose.

Hanger 9 performance plug or the McCoy plug that is the same.

15% sys/castor mix fuel.

For 3D, APC 12.25-3.75

Open the main needle about 2 1/4 turns and start there. Peak out the rpm and back it off a 2 clicks.

Then go to the low end needle. From idle, go wide open after a 7-8 second wait. Chances are it is too rich on the bottom. If it coughed a bit then went wide open, close the bottom end 1/8th of a turn at a time.

When it jumps from idle to wide open with just a very very slight hesitation, you got it right.

Rock on from there.

I was thumbing through the forum looking for a thread on this subject.
I have been having the same problem with my ST .51.Me, or any of the guys I fly with have been able to figure it out. I will give your suggestion a try.

I have fixed 4 super tigre engines by changing to a high castor oil fuel. They will not run on Cool Power. Trust me this works and is simple.

They also take a LOOOONG time to break in and until that happens you'll be chasing the needles more than say, an OS. And I agree with fuel with castor in it. I run mine on 15% or 10% castor/synth mix. I have a 51 and two ST40's and they all run great, but out of the box they were pretty rough running. I just ran them rich for at least a gallon, then dialed in the low end and it paid off.
