I am also planning on running the new Spektrum A6030 servos on the stabs and wings. At 278 ounces of torque. .15 speed, TITANIUM GEARS(!!!), and only $85 apiece they look like a hot ticket. They keep pushing back the arrival date though, so if I can't get them in the next week or so I will have to go with something else. Kind of on a tight budget so I would have to settle with Hitec 5985's or similar.
Bodywerks,
How do you like the A6030 servos?
Which servo arms fit these servos? Jr - Hitec???
How do they center?
Approximently how meny flights do you have on the servos?

Bill Hempel 100cc Yak-55M

How about the 100cc hempel yak 55 with a 85cc single.
I have a 3W85Xi CS + KS 1090 tuned pipe laying around, looking for a new airframe.
Is there room to put the tuned pipe inside the cannister box with little modifications and will it pass the wing tube?

Looking forward for your answers.

The tunnel for the can runs under the wing tube so I dont think that would be an issue. I know the plane will fly on an 80. Depending on the weight difference of the 3W 85 compared to the DA 100 you might be able to make up for less power with less weight of the engine. If I remember right, the first former that would be in the way is all the way back around the TE of the wing.
My flying field is around 4,700 ft and the DA 100 has plenty of power to pull out of a hover if that helps as a comparison.

OK, I've got the first 100cc Hempel Yak 55M (cn° 010) over here in Belgium.
Going to modify it for the 3W85Xi CS + KS 1090 tuned pipe.

The wingspan is 83", which is a little shorter than most current 50cc models. The root has a wide chord though, so it may make up for what it lacks in span there. I don't know the wing area. I'm not even sure if Bill knows as this has been asked before. The plane flies good though.

I'm having to get out of giant-scale for a couple years due to my job, but I'm already thinking about what I'm going to get back to the states. I'm looking at the 100cc Yak 55. I guy at my club bought the 150cc Yak and felt it didn't have enough power. My question is this, assuming all the products are still available when I can get back into GS, is a DA-100 enough for this, or should I look at the DA-120?

Plenty. You would not be disappointed.

The 120 would take a bit of work to get the cg right(this plane needs a little weight up front)but its usable.

Yes. The 100 will give you unlimited vertical and plenty of power for 3D.

Who's 150cc Yak did your guy in the club buy? I am sure it wasnt one of mine as the 150cc Yak's come in @34 pounds. Even with a crappy 150cc engine and 6,000'DA the airplane would perform well....

Bill, it was yours. I was present for the maiden flight and everything seemed to be fine. Then while I was on vacation, apparently, it wasn't performing up to expectation. So he and the "engine guy" in the club started messing around with it to get it right. He took off without the cowling on and something happened (again, I wasn't present) and the plane went in. From what I understand, the damage was extensive enough that the engine guy, who also happens to be a builder wasn't sure if he'd be able to fix it to the level necessary for IMAC competitions, so they swapped planes.
