Everything is now painted except the ailerons. Work is so busy atm that next weekend will prob be the only chance i get to fly for a while so im going to test fly it and paint the ailerons when i have some spare time as they still need a bit of filling pinholes etc..

Wing without ail or servos is 1156g painted!

I think you need to make some foam core wings.

I dont want to start a war LOL. This is a really good achievement and I will also go down this road. I really like the idea of a painted wing out of the mold done really quickly. Blade spar is an interesting option too.
Dom and I went over the CAM (computer aided machining) programme yesterday and we test machined an elevator pattern I produced drawings for in Solidworks. Very interesting.

I do agree foam wings would be lighter but there is probly more cost involved with them and more work. Maybe we could try a blade spar in a set of these wings? Only thing i was worried about was that the wing is so skinny now that the spar would not be as strong. I cant wait to see your ideas with the slick wings and im sure that Team 260 and Slick could come up with some cool ideas!!

Hi Steve cost and effort are secondary to light weight, although durability should be considered. I have done the calculations for the blade spar and I think I put them up on the Slick thread. Am still undecided about the next wings and fuselages, I need to discuss it with Ewan. Getting the materials is a bit of an issue so that may come into it.

Hi Steve, Just picked up eight canopies this morning. I'm trimming off the bottom salvage and will box them up and send off on Monday. Can you give me an address and also a phone number for the courier please. I'll keep the mold here uintil Mike lets me know what he wants done with it.

Plane is looking great, good luck with the campaign, you're a clever fellah.

Cheers,

Barrie.

Steve, I meant to ask, Mike wanted an extra one pulled for someone down Palmerston/wellington way. Do you know who it is ?, if not we'll just wait until Mike gets back.
Cheers, B.

Great weight guys. Obviously the wing weight is OK. Can you do a breakdown ie fuse weight stab weight and wing weights. Looking forward to the flight report tonight.
