Futaba 12MZ mode change?

Does anyone know if its possible to do a mode change on a 12mz? I can get one at the right price but its mode 1 and I need mode 2. Is it a simple spring change like the JR stuff or is it a lot more in depth.

Hey Matt,

I believe it is just a simple spring swap over, then you can re-assign each stick and the trim tab, to whatever function you want. Hope this helps.

LOL forgot abot that hurdle matt, speek to adrian on hoffmans road, he did his 14mz, its not easy. The problem is the throttle stick doesn't have as much throw as the elevator stick. To be done properly it needs to be a gimble swap, but the friggen wires are not long enough so some re-soldering involved (i know last thing you want to hear). You don't want to run cut off throw on elevator especially with rate triggers. Other option is to modify throttle gimble stoppers so it can be used as elevator gimble which again means hacking into warrenty of radio. But speak to adrian he may be able to source mode 2 gimbles. Thank frig im mode 1 but i fell sorry for mode 2 in this country who need futaba trannys.

3Dub's right. I asked Futaba the same thing (mode 2 to mode 1) and they said it should be done properly and calibrated......

Thanks guys. From what Ive been reading the actual mechanical change is pretty straight forward but you need to be able to calibrate the sticks through some sort of programming. Easy done no doubt anywhere else but got to find a place to do it in Aus.

There is a hardware reverse option in 14mz , means you can swap gimples over, no soldering , but they will be upside down and will regester in reverse. So you select all reversed i guess I dunno never seen inside.

Matt, one of the members at my club bought a 14 MZ in the wrong mode.

He managed to get the swap done by Futaba, I dont know if it needed to be shipped overseas or was done by the dealer here in Australia. I dont think he was charged a significant sum for it though.

Thanks Benny. I will contact the importers tomorrow and see what they say. I believe they are also the tech support in Aus. So fingers crossed.

Re: Futaba 12MZ mode change?

I offered to buy this gyus Tx off him months ago. He got the wrong mode and is dangerous with even a JR 378 in his hands. So I offered him a cheap way out, he wasnt interested then.

He has now changed it to mode 2 and still isnt using it. (I honestly believe he never will.) I can try a push him on a price if you like Matt.

Its no good to me now, its on the wong mode.
