...right... and the two additional options that you offered are also transmitter operated - choke and throttle. Am I missing something?

he said ignition cut off period. never the other 2 options I stated. thats my point there are other ways to kill the motor. that all I was trying to say. and I have re- read my post, and if ya'll actually read them you would see that it was pretty clear.

Oh, ok I understand what you mean. And BTW, I agree with the Tx operated kill. My personal belief is that it shouldbe REQUIRED.

A good 4.8v pack is fine for a gasser...

To my way of thinking, the choke method of kill still has the pilot relying on a working servo, as with the thottle servo. So, would it be that out of line to expect the "best" and "safest" method is a transmitter operated optical kill switch?

I am thinking that to take that one line out of my entire post and raise a stink makes about as much sense as having the throttle and or choke linkage fail and lose the aircraft when you could simply install the optical kill, and assign a transmitter switch to activate it.

Sorry Full Throttle, I am missing your point...but that's okay because it sounds like we agree that some form of kill is needed that will function at the precise time it is required. We just do not agree on the best method to do so.

Not to say that there are not gassers out there that do not have electronic ignition. I just do not, would not own one.

smacka-Ihave always respected your opinion and I agree 100% but aLOT of people still run mag ignition and should be able to as they wish, just hope they check the battery packs!

if a moddler runs magneto ignition,and loses power, his motor is RUNNING! Yes this is true that it will have greater kinetic energy at impact vs not running.

Hey guys over here in Australia any model over 7kg must be certified and 1 of the regulations on certification with all gassers over 7kg weather ie or mag is that they must have an optical kill operated by the transmitter.So for us over here in australia it's a no brainer we haveto run them to get certified. I even run 1 on my 30cc model and a seperate slide switch.

Cars have a magnetic ignition and we can turn them on and off, just need to break the circuit somewhere...
