Tony, yes I have heard of club banning certain power plants during dry season. Unfortunately they banned gassers as well because of the "danger" of the gas causing a fire. (I didnt say it was smart, just that they did it)

Clubs have the right to restrict flying to whatever type of aircraft the membership desires.

The problem is not which kinda plane can start a fire, "a lot of gassers run lipos for their electronics, and we know lipo powered electrics of any size can catch fire after a crash.

The key is the plane of any kind, should "never" be outside the boundries of the flying site.
It happens a lot with these turbines and even the go fast airplanes and heck how many FOGs have you seen fly their little nitro planes off into the sunset. Pilots without the skill and brains to know how to keep their plane within a certain boundry, need to find a bigger place to fly, or fly smaller, slower planes.
We do not have much of an issue with our 3D planes, we tend to keep them close.

Just my 2 cents

After the Fire Department had things under control we were informed the the field is now closed until further notice. This field is actually a City owned park, the City has all rights to do this.
My question is; Do your clubs have any restrictions (turbine, electric, gas or glow) when dry weather elevates a fire hazard? Is flying a turbine powered powered aircraft any extra risk during the dry season?
Bay City is a non turbine club.

Everyone is a kinda a wide range.

Me peronally I run A123's but I know of a lot of people who don't, Lipo Fire and Gas would not be good, well except maybe to watch from a distance.

I've seen planes setup with the lipos setup right next to the gas tank.

Yea I know.

Things are dry, fire danger is high, people should use common sense.

The problem is "common sense" isn't as common as the name might indicate
