Re: 50% Pitts Python M12 Scratch Build

You do not need an airfoiled tail. The full scale is flat as a pancake. When the elevators deflects, it's the curved surface creating lift moving the tail moment. Most of the foam you see will be gone. Sticks will be inlaid and all the rest removed. All edges will be glassed and then covered with what ever. The foam core is for shape only. Hang in there. You'll see.

I want to stress this aircraft is scale. Look at the picture.

I have a good friend that had an S2a. I have about 3 hours in the front seat. The flat tail has more authority than you could ever imagine. You could pull enough G's to pass out at a moments notice. Snaps are incredible. Flat tail. Sorry for beating this.

Ok. Got this feeling people are freaking out over the foam.

I guess Burt Rutan is an A$%.

Here's where we're going with this.

Photo's of glass over foam. These are an experiment I did years ago. 3m77 spray. Glass cloth from Lowe's this time, and Polyurethane Glue.

Hint...Hint. Try this at home. You can make all kinds of cool parts.

If you can't read my writing let me know and I'll type it out.

I looked at Comp Arfs. I think it was 3800.00. Holly crap. I just love to build. Probably won't have more than 3-400 in this.

you are gonna build this faster than i am gonna build my pitts 12 arf! The scale look is it, I dont like when they put the wings on top of each other and reduce the height of the top one. Worse than any atrocity.

I take my statement back about the stabs, I didn't know they were flat. I have no problem with the foam parts, I know once glassed they are super strong, thats how surfboards are made.

Re: 50% Pitts Python M12 Scratch Build

She should fly fine. I did notice going thru pictures last night that the whole horizontal is shifted forward leaving more room for the rudder deflection. I may cheat it just a pinch more. Just a pinch. 45 degree deflection is the goal.

I never knew that. Kind of like a cap 231. Check out this pic.

Have to go to work. Sh&*
