Bootcamp won't cause issues with your Mac OS. Bootcamp allows dual booting on a mac, it isn't a virtual machine. When you use Windows you actually boot into it and for all intents and purposes, it is a Windows computer at that point. Apple drivers are loaded so keyboard commands and trackpad/mouse works as usual.

*edit*
I run both Bootcamp and Parallels(virtual machine) on my Mac with no issues. Parallels is good when I need to do something in Windows quickly. Bootcamp (booting into Windows) is good when I need all resources like for 3D games.

One of the best learning/training tools I have used so far!
Which deserves a quick story...... from my experience four years ago.....

This 14 year old boy does a building project with his dad from our flying club in Whittier Narrows California. It's been a while and I forgot their names.
It's a 31% 300 with a DA 50 on the nose. It's an old school build... sticks and glue.....
Along with the kit, the Dad purchases "Real Flight" 4 for the son to learn to fly. The boy spends hours building the 300 with his dad as well as consistently flying the sim. Bare in mind the boy and father are newcomers to the best of my knowledge, & have never flown an R/C aircraft, but want to have fun getting into the hobby together. What a wonderful father/son project!
Anyways...., the kid and dad show up at the club early one morning. I'm an AM flyer cause of the summer heat here in So Cali. I'm flying my 540 and having fun as usual. The dad and son come up to me after I land and ask if I could check out their plane and test fly it. They told me their story and how the son was practicing on Real Flight 4 for the past several months during the build.
I could tell the father and son had a great close relationship and were very excited about their plane. I answered of course I'd help them, that's what this club and hobby is all about.
I did a detailed pre-flight...., checked the CG according to the manufacturer on my iPhone, and filled her up and taxied out. Needless to say, the plane flew great! A little elevator trim and a touch of L aileron trim and the plane flew on its own at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I did a couple of passes and landed. We opened the hatch to see if anything came loose did another pre-flight, filled her up and taxied out for flight #2.
I complimented the two of them on an awesome build. I believe the dad had some previous building knowledge and experience. Control line I think....
I then took off again.
Once up around 100' in the air and level, I handed the radio to the boy....
He seemed comfortable and did a couple of rounds in the flight pattern and then all hell broke loose!!!!!!
This kid started doing rolls..., loops...., flat spins..., inverted harriers..., you name it...., the kid could do it! I was floored! We had the timer set for 10 minutes and the chime went off. After picking up my jaw off the flight line, I suggested that he land. Sure enough the boy greased the landing.
No bounce, no hesitation...., he knew what he was doing.
I couldn't believe this was the first time this 14 year old had ever flown an R/C aircraft. I thought for sure they were pulling my leg. They assured me they were truthful in their claim!

I can fully attribute this to these two newcomers having access to "Real Flight 4" and being wise in their approach to the hobby
The father and son frequent the flying field often and have a great time together enjoying the hobby, and flying the Monokote off their plane.
I look at it like this..., with this great training aid, not only did this boy learn to fly, he also saved $$ and time. Kudos to the dad for doing his research, and teaching his son a valuable lesson and most importantly.... spending this precious time with his son!

I compliment the staff at Knife Edge Software for producing a great learning and training aid for the multitude of hobby enthusiasts. You gave everybody who wants to learn to fly.... the opportunity to do so at such a great price!
We appreciate your efforts and this wonderful tool

Thanks

I think it's time for me to upgrade to 7 from 4.5

Happy landings gents!

Hmmmm.... Do I really want to infect my Mac with a Windows OS?

Nope! I am a tech nerd by trade and life style and I just can't bring myself to load a crappy OS on it just so I can run RF. My mac has been running for 7 years without a single issue, crash etc... Putting bootcamp and windows 7 on... well then I can surely expect issues.

I agree that Knife Edge Software needs to get with the times and make it Apple compliant/ready. I'm tired of bringing my work laptop home to run RF!

YOURKO: I do agree that the sim and others like it have been a very valuable tool for us all and I think it has even boosted our memerbships as it is a great place to learn without the worry of making kindling out of a new expensive plane.

Peace!

I snipped out a bunch for brevity sake.

I couldn't agree with you more. Simulators have become an AMAZING teaching tool for people entering the hobby. I recommend every single student I get to buy a sim, and use it as much as they can when not at the field. It makes the progression of teaching them much faster and with much lower stress levels.

I wish sim mfg's would make Mac versions too. Much more convenient since there are many more Mac's out there these days.

Just use the Windows PC you are hiding. All you mac guys all have a Windows system somewhere when you need to do something other than fiddle with media

Just kidding... thought it would be nice to have a war on here other than Redline V Amsoil or DA V... well I guess there isn't anyone else... or maybe Futaba V.. hmmm.. no competitors there either... we will leave it at Redline V Amsoil
