Just plug it into the power port on your Optima 9 using a Y connector OR any other operating channel on your RX. I use the Spektrum capacitor on all of mine for added insurance with no down-side other than spending $8.

Hi Guys. I am also encountering a problem. It might be pure stupidity but for the life of me I cant get into the setup or update of the HTS-Voice. Let me start by saying that I am not sure that I did the upgrade when it came out. I follow all the procedures to the hilt, but when I switch the HTS Voice on it goes to function and will not enter the update mode with a flashing LED.
Any suggestions, or if I need the update, I think it was V1.12, can anybody assist please?

I don't know why you wouldn't be able to get into the programming mode. I have found that it's best to program the voice via the HPP-22. You should also update the unit as well to the latest firmware.

On a sad note... For those of you that don't know, Alan Tong (AT) passed away this week after a long battle with cancer. Alan was an incredible person and helped so many people on this and other forums. His ability to gather information and categorize it made it easy to find the answer to so many questions, not just with Hitec products, which he was so dedicated to, but with all aspects of the hobby on this page: http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~atong/ Please take a look at it.

Thank you Alan for all that you have done... you will be missed!

Very sad news about Alan, His input and shared know;ledge will be missed.

On a separate note: Landing Mix in my Aurora 9 is not available in the new 9x?

Camber Mix looks pretty much the same,( allows mixing of ailerons and elevators for air brakes), and is included on both models.

Also, will the 9x be able to be updated with the HPP-22?

You are correct that the landing mode is gone although I have asked that it be included in an update. They are finalizing an update for the 9X that should be available shortly although I have yet to test it to know exactly what it contains.

AT was truly a gentleman.
Always willing to courteously help anyone as he often did for me.
Truly a loss to RC enthusiasts as I am sure it is to his family.
Rest in peace my friend.

A9 Lock out - 2 models bought the farm!

Im sure this thread has been done to death in previous years, however, im frustrated that I can't find any recent threads or posts....

I am using a 5 year old Hitec Aurora 9 to fly my fleet of model aircraft. I have logged approximately 800 flights with this transmitter. Admittedly, I havent upgraded the software - im still using the version 1.08 software

In my Pilot RC yak 54, I have an Optima 9 receiver installed (insulated with refrigeration insulation sponge) , powered by a 2300mah 2s LiFe pack (which also powers the servos) Both receiver antennas are mounted at horizontally, but at 90 degrees to each other, on a 2mm plywood plate. The receiver and the antenna's are located aft of the wing tube.

There are no high powered electrical leads, batteries or any other interference causing items located near the receiver or antenna's. I have quality receiver and ignition switches installed. All extension leads are Hitec twisted cable, and all connections are secured with safety clips. The ignition module is mounted in the engine bay. The spark plug lead is shielded using the supplied plastic spiral shielding. I am NOT using an optical ignition kill switch!

Prior to each first flight of the day, I conducted a range check with and without the engine running. This range check always passed.

Yesterday, during the second flight of the day, in straight and level flight, with the aircraft at approx 100 ft high, and heading away from me in my 1 o'clock position, the aircraft stopped responding to my control inputs, slowly rolled right and...........

I have had dozens of flights with this aircraft, without any hint of trouble.

Last September, exactly the same thing happened to a 55" Phoenix Edge 540, in roughly the same location, and doing the same thing - flying straight and level after exiting the bottom of a loop, in a 1 o'clock position relative to me. It just stopped responding to control inputs, rolled right and....... This aircraft had an optima 6 receiver installed - 1 antenna.

This is very frustrating. Its even more concerning, considering that is has now happened to me with a Glo powered model, and a Gasoline powered model. In both cases the transmitter and receiver battery was fully charged, and the aircraft was in a state of flight not requiring any control input - Straight and level!

The only thing that MIGHT be a contributing factor, is that there was an electric fence (for livestock control) on the ground, roughly underneath where this loss of control started. I have flown over this many times with my glo powered models without problems.

Can anyone shed any light on this 'lock out' or loss of control? Im at a loss!

I'm considering tossing the old A9 and either buying the new A9x or a JR 12 channel radio with telemetry.
