Newcomers: Start here first. Setups and more;

I was trying to find information awhile back and had to sift through alot of threads to find the information I needed. I also noticed that a bunch of questions had been asked several times. As a result, I was thinking it sure would be nice if there was a place for newcomers to go to look for answers to alot of their initial setup questions; maybe even a sticky.

With your help I would like to compose a comprehensive list of motor cross references, servo recommendations, and the like. The hardest part for me is matcing up motors. I have purposely left out specific esc and batttery mfg's as the manufacturer isn't as important as the spec of the esc or battery. Since I'm new to foamies myself, I don't have alot of information to go on but I'll start. If you would like to contribute something that works for you, just post it, and I'll try to revise the list.

Re: Newcomers: Start here first. Setups and more;

I was wondering if a Hacker A20-6XL 2300kV motor would work in a 48" DW or maybe even the 58"? I have this motor out of my Blade400 heli, and would like to use it in a foamy instead of selling it. I have my eye on one of these kits for a build next month.

Is this motor just to high a kV to use in a plane? Please help!

Thanks!

DW has a 58"?? (you mean the 55" )

No, that motor won't really work in anything made by DW without some weight gain and serious modifying, and a gearbox- it's lighter to go with an outrunner setup
