Hitec HS-5955 & Hobbico CS-170 are the same!!!

Guys,

I'm almost positive that these servos are identical. Take a look at them for your self. Be sure to also look at the specs. They changed some things by tenths. The speeds of the servos are the same to :P Same servo i'm thinking. So why pay $30 more? Have a look...

Looks very similar alright, but what about programing? I didn't see any info on that, but could have missed it. I have been able to buy original 5955TG for about $90 pretty regularly so the price difference is really not much. Probably better to stick with the original Hitec brand.

Re: Hitec HS-5955 & Hobbico CS-170 are the same!!!

The ARE the same. manufactured at the Hitec factory as a Hobbico Brand.
Confirmed by Hitec guys.

The only diference: the CS-170 cannot be programmed as the Hitecs but with all the powerbox solutions of today (EQ-10, PB, matchboxes etc.) who needs it.

I have 2 40% with CS-170 all around the surfaces - works flawlessly.

Cheers,
Zivo

You wont be able to change the deadband to 1 for better centering.

The Hitec programmer allows you to do the following:
  • Reset to factory default
  • End and center points
  • Direction of rotation
  • Dead band width
  • Failsafe point
  • Speed (reduction only)
Here's a link to the programmer: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXARP3

I've paid less for a 5955 than that CS-170 costs.

If you can't program them, then there not the SAME! This isn't just a different sticker on the case. It has to be a different chipset, controller what ever. Plus there really is know price difference to justify them.
