As far as the louvers, I hysoled and screwed mine in and they have 6 years of running on them and no issues. And this is on an engine that does not run as smooth as a 4 cylinder. I think you will be fine using them.

I made a box that fits over the engine that collects the incoming air and forces it over the cylinders like Ryans Rebel did on his, no louvers. I also opened only the front of air scoop and put a blade of balsa in at an angle to force air up onto the canisters. Have had no heating problems.

If anyone close that may want a Dalton Yak project I am looking to sell this one. It is an ARC. I have completed the wings and stabs to the point the incidence has been set and they are ready to cover. Fuse is framed up and sides are glued on, main gear is now a carbon gear and has been fit to the fuse, turtle deck has also been sheeted. Items that need completing are, cowl work, turtle deck, rudder and fin install, canopy/hatch work. I am asking 1800.00 for it. Crating and shipping would be at the buyers expense, if someone close, I can drive a short distance to meet or deliver.
Please call me at 520-481-3726 if interested.
Thanks,
Dave

Sorry, the one I'm building now belongs to a friend and he might be a bit upset if I were sell it.
I ask my wife everyother day or so if I can retire from our business to build model planes, but she keeps telling me no.

Here is where I am at now...
Well, this will be my biggest challenge, and that will be, to prime this, smooth it all out, then paint it. Not looking forward to this step, as this is by far the most difficult part. This part alone will take me months.
I am referring to painting the cowl and the canopy/hatch.
I am dreading this step, but also cannot consider paying someone over 500 dollars to do this, that is way too much to ask for. At least, this is how much the guy from Brocks Collision center wants. When he told me, i really thought that maybe he was smoking something other than tobacco.

You will most likely have 200.00 or more just in materials to paint those items.... Unless you use a rattle can.. Paint is not cheap!

I have the paint and the spray gun/compressor. It is just a PITA. I am using epoxy paint, goes by brand name KlassKote. The paint i have has been matched to the monokote. I sent in pieces of the monokote for him to match the paint. I have green, red, black, and white. let me show you what i have done this morning, so far.
