Not sure how this will help you but here you go. What you can't see is just the two sealed main bearings on the crankshaft, they are the same as in all the other DLE engines. Roller bearings on both ends of the rod are the same type as well. No, the cylinder can't be rotated. The 55 never had a chronic bearing problem but just as other makes do as well, they do go out from time to time. I prefer to catch them before they take out everything else but it seems many dealers won't bother unless they grenade, I'm just weird that way I guess.

The machining is impeccable, the tolerances are tight. On another note, I'm not sure if I'm the only one to notice but it seems that DLE has changed their rings. They have a much better feel with less leakage and they get a smooth, even surface with no machine marks much, much, faster.

Re: DLE20

I was just telling a friend tonight that it seems tighter than the 30 and 55 when you turn it over. The cylinder is honed very nicely in a cross hatch pattern. I had to remove the carb and reed assembly to flip my carb 180 degrees, noticed the inside was very clean and looked nice. The Saito prop adapter I bought does not seem to want to thread on, not sure what the deal is there. Would be nice if they had tapped the crank for a spinner, my only complaint from vidual inspection.

Been a little held up with storms, tons of rain and busy work week. Hope to finish my install tomorrow. I noticed my engine is #00004, hope that is a good thing!!

Cant wait to see some pics and videos of this engine installed, from the guys getting there first batch of engines. I think it its going to be a good choice for a spring project I have set for later. Its going to be a fun scale project..

Re: DLE20

Got the engine mounted, choke installed, and still need to fine tune my throttle and fuel system.

Question, best place for me to mount the ignition is on the side of the engine box. I have room for about 1/4" of foam between the ignition and the engine box. Never been a fan of this, but it looks like the best place partly because of the low wing mount on this CAP. Anyone have issues with it mounted there???

I could move the fuel tank back farther, but would have to build a mount for it and I would rather not add any weight to the plane.

Side of the engine box is SOP for 90% of the applications out there, use the side opposite the throttle servo.

I agree opposite of the throttle servo.

If you can move the tank back, that might give you some better options. Just a thought

Thanks, sounds good I'll do that. All of my 25% - 30% planes I move the fuel tank back by the wing tube so there is room in the engine box.

Supposed to be more rain tomorrow Maybe I can sneak out in the afternoon to get it fired up.
