Re: FG EXCLUSIVE: PRO FLOW 3-D CANNISTERS

Guys, I've been in an all-out war with my DA-170 motors. The thing is, I love the power and lightness. It's just a great engine; but. I had poor transition right where my 40% liked to hover so I ended up pogoing up and down trying to get it to settle in. Well, I added a Pilot 37.5% Yak last year and Dave modified my KS 95s with a 1" crossover pipe. That did that, I had perfect transition in the midrange, I'm talking really sweeeeet. I've flown my Yak through the fall of last year and many of you may have seen me fly it at Joe Nall, including the midair that it survived and the tail dunk over the stab in the pond. There is no way I could have settled this plane in to dunk my tail with the DA-170 of stock KS 95s and standard headers. I know guys have extended their headers now to help with that but that came later. The 1" cross over did the job.

Now, what the cross over didn't help with, and neither does the longer header, is that low-end loading. I know that's not in every case, but it is with my two and the 3 guys I fly with. So, when I found out about these new canisters, I got them right away. After all, my first experience with a Planebender mod was excellent.

So, now I've got 6 flights in with them and they are simply fantastic! They take care of the mid-range transition that the 1" cross over did and now I'm getting an idle that I could never, ever get with the KS95s. I'm not bad mouthing the KS95s, they are great canisters, but they just didn't do what I wanted them to do. Now, my motor will clear out after a longer idle and I'm back to doing maneuvers that require that idle down to the deck because I know my motor will respond when I need it to.

I'm not associated with Dave, other than being a friend and customer. This is just my personal experience. I'm not promising anything for anyone else, but I'll tell ya, they are fantastic for me....oh, I said that already.

Now it's a bit cold here so we haven’t been able to fly, but I was so pumped about how my plane was running, I flew last weekend in 35 degrees. It performed perfectly and I felt good about an inverted harrier right to the deck. That's a maneuver that I had set aside because I didn't trust my motor would clear out for me.

Here they are in my plane and I added a pic of my KS95s with the cross over mod.

Re: FG EXCLUSIVE: PRO FLOW 3-D CANNISTERS

Hi Guys, I'll try and answer a few questions here. But first let me say that I was using the KS95 cans pryor with a added Crossover pipe that I was installing. These units are a direct bolt it size wise. Here are a few dimenions:

Weight (per Canister) = 14OZ
Lenth of (Canister only) = 10.5"
Outside Diameter = 3"
inlet Outside diameter = 1.200
Stinger Diameter = 1"

I have lots of people ask me about sound levels, Well to tell you the truth we believe they are about the same as a KS. However, 2 things: 1. I use thicker material as to contain more sound and to inprove the overall quality. 2. With the thicker material I am able to have the exaust gases pass through about 50% less of the forced passage ways inside the canister and still retain the quiet sound required at most of our restricted flying fields and events. The new type sound using the 1" stingers sounds more like a SB Chevy on Flowmasters to me and guys that are already using these.

I will try my very best to keep up with demand as we are beginning production in larger volumes on Dec. 13

Thanks alot for checking out this thread.

Re: FG EXCLUSIVE: PRO FLOW 3-D CANNISTERS

I almost forgot to mention this: I designed these to be used with a 10.5" Header on a DA170. However we installed them on a DA150 using the same lenth header with awesome results. They will be run and tested on the new DLE170 very soon and I will report in ASAP on our findings. I'm more that sure they will make any DA, 3-W, Or any simular engine user very happy. Of course differant climate and differant design cowls will require tunning as will any combo. But here is my personal favorite combo for 3-D, Vess 32C or in colder weather the 3-W 3D Prop. Now thats just MY Favorite. Good working combos are just that! Good combos.

Thanks.

I have always wondered why there hasn't been any manufacture located here....to make headers, pipes ect....
Only guy that comes to mind is Ed... from ES composite....He only does piped and props...though....

What make and size were the motors in your race car. I'm pretty close to getting my Super Comp car back on the track.

So do I. Working on putting my 500" big block Chrysler motor back together after a nasty rod bearing spun. Expensive fix. One crank, a set of new BME aluminum rods and eight new pistons. That's just the big parts.. About $8,000 dollars damage if you include machining and my time.

This is all that I sell for now. As I have no intention to sell Headers or couplers or clamps.
