3W 157xiB2F issues

Does anybody know if these engines have any issues 3W 157xiB2F? I'm going to install this engine in my 40% TOC Extreme Flight 54Yak. Please help. Charles

The best running engine I have owned to date. The only possible issue ( I never had though ) is the plastic
block under the carb can develope an air leak, but an aluminum one is available from AI.

BOATNIK, are yo referring to the carb.isolator block? I haven't purchased the engine yet, but that's a good question to ask the owner.

I absolutely love mine. Wont fly anything else in my giants. As far as leaking, just make sure you tighten things back down after a days flight like we all do anyway. This 157 is mounted in my H9 Ultimate which weighed in @ 44 pounds all up. Will go strait up until you get tired.

I do have a radial in one of my other giants tho.

Yeah just replaced the leaking carb block on my 150. Huge change I have been leaning it out the last few flights to get back to the tune I had before..plus no more catch pans to keep the floor clean...lol

Only problem I have had with my 157 CSTS was that it injested a Cir Clip. I found a fellow, well, he foune me, and we struck a deal for some parts. But I haven't gotten them yet..... I'm friggin anxious to get my engine back running again. I ran my 157 CSTS with both the full alum block and carb mount as well the Ryton block and mount. I noticed absolutely no difference in the performance, drippings, etc.....

Yep, piston pin circlips is a weak point...mine took out a piston/cylinder. They need to be checked periodically, like yearly and replaced. Clips cheap, cylinders not so much.

Freakin' monster motor on KS1090's. Just a tad weaker than my DA200, but not by much.

Mine spit 1, and took out both cylinders and pistons. But I can't say too much about it. It is over 6 years old!!!

Ditch the cir clips, and install Spiro-lox!!!! Never have an issue after that!!!

I own a QS 150, 2 157's, and a 106. Only problems I have had is a failed ignition on a 78 in 2001, and a blown (piston cir clips come out on a 6 year old engine) 157 last year. Other than that, every 3W I see run, blows away any DA 150 or equiv. I see.

My 3W's they just run. No muss, no fuss.

That's funny, My 7 and a 1/2 year old 150 on Greeves still pulls around a 38 pound 118" Carden 260 like crazy! And runs a 30x13 prop at 6500 rpm's. Pretty sure you can't beat the RELIABILITY and competition quality of a DA. Plain and simple. Also which engine wins the Shootout, Clover Creek, and NATS each year. that's right a DA.
