DLE-222 version 3

Anyone have a version 3 222 yet? Check out these photos of the new crank and 2-piece case. Looks promising. Certainly a far cry from the original.

I managed to get my a month ago.It is bolted to my 45% ultimate .The power and the sound is great. The weak point for four cylinders engine is the small size crankshaft. So I use 32 prop and try not to fly full throttle.I think I am addicted to four cylinders after flying the dle222.

That new crank looks plenty stout to me. I have a good feeling that this version won't be flinging props.

I hadn't heard anything about there being a issue with the dle222 specifically, only about quads in general.
They have a tendancy to wank cranks....

I did see a 4stroke inline 3cyl brake off his hub/prop. It was a pre-production Kolm engine...
It was beefed up since then..
It would be interesting to hear a quad 4stroke run in the boxer formation......

Yes I agree. It is definately an addiction. Currently I am bussy with my second 222 in a 40% Pilot RC Sbach. I am quite exited about the 3rd generation DLe222 and cant wait for mine to arive

Nice! I've been wanting to put one in a 42% Aeroworks Extra, but can't really justify it. My DLE-170 has exceeded every expectation (power, reliability, throttle response & transition). I fly about 75% precision and 25% 3D.... I worry about the extra heat build-up on a 222 while doing 3D stuff. Maybe I just need another plane all together. #wishfulthinking

Another 222 flying with 20 flights with no problems. Amazingly smooth idle. Carbs have been changed out to DA200 carbs and Bowman rings. The V3 replaced a V2 that snagged a ring on the exhaust port on the upstroke ruining the entire motor. Those were stock rings in the V2. Motor had upwards of 100 light duty flights with no competition or 3D.

This is my friends motor not mine though I do fly the plane occasionally. The V3 is presently swinging a Mejzlik 31x12x2 blade for break-in.

Can anyone post actual measured weight of the V3 engine? Depending on what website you check, it's anywhere from 10 to 12.5 pounds. Would like engine itself, and each muffler.
