Had to redo the control arm on the Swist....The elev carbon rod ended up JUST RUBBING on the tail boom, and the servo travel was to short for the amount of deflection on the elev......Sooooooooo,i had to get a new sheet of carbon plate that was thicker then the last (seeing how i had to clean all the crap from the old arm, might as well make it stronger) and make a taller horn so the servo would get full travel, and the elev would get it's max 6mm for landing....Well,it took some work to cut the old horn off,and clean out all the epoxy, and get some new clean carbon to work with....but it is all done, and works like a DREAM Besides Coupes Habu, this is hands down the most fun i have had building an RC Plane.....Damn i love Composites

is this thing ready to fly yet....lol !! nice job

The problem area is right here, about 5mm in front of were the Vert Stab meets the Fuse....The tail boom has an arch between the saddle, and that area (easy to see in the second picture i you draw a line),then it flairs from there back.....What a pain in the NADZ to get the carbon rod perfect....Now i see why most guys just use the nylon smake with piano wire but i just can not trust an .032 wire at those speeds

Mega dittos to that!!
If'n you don't have to come back Kevin good luck, good to have known you. I will now impart all the wisdom that I had learned in my own brief career in aviation that should get you through too; 1. Stay awake at the controls. 2. Always use a condom. |
