When the control horns came loose in mine I drilled all the way around the wood dowel where it contacts the foam inside the control surface with a tiny drill bit. Then I put some glue in a syringe and injected it in the hole. I used polyurethane glue as it expands to fill any gaps especially if you squirt a drop of water in the hole first. Epoxy would work and probably CA but I'm not a fan.

On another note I am selling all of my Carden spares. Basically I have enough to build a complete plane minus stabs and cowl. If interested please PM me for the complete list and picks. All parts are brand new replacement parts. $400 firm. I can ship greyhound but would prefer local south florida pickup or meet no further north then Orlando for fuel cost.

Yes the wing and fuse boxes are intact. I removed all the little parts from their boxes and put them in the fuse box. I can ship them via greyhound bus. Just cleaned out my PM box as it was full so you can PM me your address and I'll get a ship quote for you. There is a local I offered this to before posting here and I gave him until wednesday so I cannot commit to any deals until then. This is why I haven't posted in the classifieds yet.

you can create a poor man's redundancy with a single battery, by having two output wires from the battery, a normal servo size extension, plus a heavy gauge deans. Radical RC can do this for you.

good to see 'em still in the air. One of our club members lost his earlier this year so we have one less. I did however manage to find a mid production kit still in the box for an unbelievable price. Sold!

Glad you are in the air PSARRAZIN!!! I am approaching 200 flights on mine. Next weekend is the last IMAC contest in our region and this is my first year. I am an old guy flying Basic, only been flying RC about 4 years and I lead the region in points in my class with 4 1st places with this plane!!! It is awesome!

My DX18 is telling me I have over 20hours with this plane and I flew it with a DX9 first.!!!

Glad to see you enjoying this plane. I have one as well and it is an awesome flying plane. Too bad they discontinued it so quickly. I assume it is a marketing strategy or something. Oh well I will fly it until it's departure!

I'm still flying both my H9 Carden Yak and the Extra. I have an older 55 on the Yak, and a DA60 with ProFlo canister. Both are great flyers. The wings are almost 100% identical, the only difference is the wing tube on the Extra is a little longer than the Yak and in a slightly different location. They both float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. Yak has hundreds upon hundreds of flights. Extra is still breaking in, but is awesome. Maybe soon we will see yet a newer version of a H9/Carden combo?

Psarrazin,

I ordered carbon fiber gear from graph tech for mine too. Did you drill the hole for the axle the same size as the original, or did you drill it to use a an axle with a smaller diameter of hole to mount it to the gear? Also, any tips for drilling through the gear?

Thanks,

Kevin

I just used metric bolts long enough to go through the wheels instead of the oe axles. you can drill a small 1/16 pilot hole with a standard drill bit then open it up with a stepped bit.

Anyone use the stock spring on the tail wheel? Wow, springs seem way too long and a lot of work to fix.
