+1 on that. Here's the only pic I have of the L-16 that my Dad taught my to fly when I was 15 years old. I screamed bloody murder when he showed me my first spin

This L-16 belonged to the local Civil Air Patrol squadron. Not sure where it is now, or if it's still flying. The photo was taken back in the '60's.

Talking about DC-9's, this is the most famous one of all.

This is a pretty good history of the airplane:

be sure to click on the airliners.net link for some really cool pic's and more history.

Except when compared to a 65hp J-3.

I always hated the landing gear struts and brakes on the original Champ. Once upgraded to Cleveland brakes I liked it a lot more. Also liked it with a C-85 up in the thin Colorado air!

FWIW, my Dad and I are looking for a Champ project if anyone knows of one! Would also consider a Luscombe or C-120 project.

All nice airplanes to get into Scott....and a bit easier on the wallet than a Sukhoi

Always loved our '46 Luscombe.....except for the annual polishing

Are you kidding? Polishing planes was one of my favorite things to do... I guess I can be a workaholic at times but it's better than waxing the car.
Beautiful plane, btw.
