SmartFly Ignition Kill On Y Connector

I have limited receiver slots. Can I run your ignition kill on a Y with a battery int my receiver?

Yes, I've done this. Just make sure that you are getting enough power to your RX to support the demands of your aircraft, if you aren't using a Power Expander.

One option when you run out of slots, is to Y the power to 2 different spots on the RX bus. For instance, on Futaba 8 ch, if you don't have a dedicated battery slot left, you can Y the power to Ch 3 (throttle) and to Ch 7 (ignition kill). Of course make sure that you are using heavy duty Y connectors to the battery.

Hi Greg,
I am not sure why you want to "Y" the Ignition Cutoff into the receiver. If you have only one receiver you only need to use one of the pigtails, the other can be left unconnected. Please let me know if I have misinterpreted your question.

First, Mr. Ritchey, please accept my apologies for my initial reply before yours. When I made that reply I didn't realize this was your manufacturer's forum. Sorry 'bout that.

I think this Gregg's situation - he simply doesn't have enough channel slots on his receiver to individually accommodate all of his servos plus the ignition kill as well as the battery. He probably has enough for his servos plus battery. Many times, the smaller receivers doesn't have a discrete battery slot. I've had this situation myself.

Ex) 7 ch receiver--> 5 servos for primary surfaces + throttle = 6 slots. The last slot on many 7 ch receivers is a shared slot for ch 7/battery. It requires a Y to use that 7th channel.

Same problem occurs with some 8 ch receivers if one runs a choke servo or a retract servo, etc.

My situation is 8 channel receiver, ailerons 1 and 6, elevator 2 and 8, rudder 4, throttle 3, battery 7 Y harnass with DCup. Would like to put Smartfly ignition kill & harnass with battery on 5. I run two battery and two regs into rx.

Re: SmartFly Ignition Kill On Y Connector

Your problem and it seem's to be similar to mine but all I wanted to solve
was using one battery only for the twin ignition system . This also follows
having only one ign cut , one manul switch and one SF opto cut switch .

All I did was to Y lead the line from the opto to the ignition power in .

I'll see if I have some photo's . One thing is for sure , it works well .
After doing a two hour groung using a 2400 A123 for the ing power
it didnt miss a beat . It used 1600mha over the entire period .

Its a bit hard to see but the lead with the cover @ top left of pic
is the twin end of the "Y" , both are power and both are coming
from one opto and one battery .

You may have to re join the Y to get the right in/out as I did
but after that was sorted it worket a treat .

Yep, we all run out of slots with the dual batt's. Y it with your battery to ch 5. I would use a very good quality HD Y.

Hi Gregg,
Sorry for being dense. Yes, "Y"ing the Cutoff with a battery input on channel 5 would be perfectly acceptable. Let me know if you have any other questions.
