Yes the 220 is sweet no doubt A little more to it than just bolting some 60 cylinders and pistons in ...LOL,There is no decent engines out there in the 240-260 range.I have a 55% I want one for. Thanks,Vann

looks like every bit of excess weight was machined off..
Very nice..
I often wonder if there was any advantage to have the carb mounted on the side of the engine like it was before?
I realize that mounting it made issues for the tight cowled, but I wonder if it made more power, better fuel distribution ect..

Mintor is really upping the ante for all, which is good for us. I love my 22 and 38 so far.

Yea i have the 110 on a yak and it rips nice. 27x12th at over 6500rpm. its a powerhouse! very smooth transitions. I love my DA's and 3w's but the machining is awesome on the Mintor. almost sharp.

Not as pretty as the original 110 & 220, they were totally beautiful engines.
Still looks good though.
Like to see reviews/reports from people.
The mounting tabs on this new 60 look kind of thin to me.

Is there a slot in the muffler we can't see? To hold the o-ring in place?

Looks nice.

the only thing I dont like is that the Spark plug is verticle and not on an angle like the DLE or DA 50 ...... I would think that on some 100cc planes you have to cut the cowl for the spark plug clearance. unless its shorter then it would be great

A bunch of companies now (DA, 3W, BME, Mintor, etc, etc.) have taken the basic old "chainsaw motor" design and really refined it for our special purpose application of flying toy planes. This Mintor is a beautiful example. These companies have really tweaked and improved on the motor design to serve our needs - losing excess weight, specific port timing, customized ignition modules, strategic exhaust placement, and so on. We're fortunate to have so many good motors that are purposefully designed for model airplanes.

I'm just wondering, though - one thing really hasn't changed: the carburetor. Looks like most manufacturers are using the same type of carb you'd find on a weed wacker or chain saw. Is that because there really isn't anything to improve on the carb design, so might as well just use what's already available?

Only reason I thought of it was that the carb on this motor looks pretty stinkin' ugly compared to the rest of it!!

Pete

comon your not realy going to bitch about the carb are you?if you could talk walbro into making a three needle carb, 90% of the guy's would not be able to adjust them . or if you were thinking of fuel injection,no one would have enough money to buy it.
