Re: Pilot-RC Yak 54

Pics all look great. I love the round cowlings.
Tony,
We have a 33% pilot, but a slightly larger pilot looks best in your airplane. It's an optical illusion thing. I have a 40% in my 88" Extreme Flight RC Yak and it looks awesome.

Re: Pilot-RC Yak 54

Got the maiden flight out of the way today. Just a conservative 4 minute flight. Video soon.

This airplane is replacing my tried and true 35%SD Yak. Moved the DA100 to the new Pilot-RC airframe. I had the presence to accurately weigh both airplanes. They are set up exactly the same with the exception of Hitec 7955 servos verses 5955 servos. The SD airplane was 29 lbs 4 oz. The new Pilot-RC plane was exactly 27 lbs,,, That is over TWO pounds lighter!! AND IT FEELS LIKE IT !!!! wOOt !!!!wOOt !!!
Even with the same set up, the airplane is different. Flies much lighter and way more agile! Going to have to use a little more expo!

Again, video soon!

Man Richard, you are..... one funny dude!

Tony- your soundtrack reminded me of "Joe" (Tom Hanks) hugging the Great Dane after getting the news he had something to die for - A Brain Cloud!
Could this be the message you are conveying to us? That we can deduce the Pilot YAK54 can be our own personal Brain Cloud too?

Hey Doc- I'm feeling the pain!

Simple answer is NO!!!!

These two guys were part of SD but when SD went to TT these guys went out on their own.

My understanding from emailing Tony is that nothing is interchangeable and definitely not for the old SD or TOC versions either.

Given that they have shaved 2 lbs off the SD design tells me that they reworked a lot in this model.

Hey Tony,

Bring that thing to Fantasy of Flight for the Xtreme Aerobatics Festival.

Is that cowling perfectly round or is it an oval? Looks like an oval in the vids.
