If my family is in I'd go as far as St.Augustine and over night at the Conch House and come home.

Jet ski's? K'nell, I can barely talk myself into going to Jax in my Cobra...................

I'm going in the boat , no way I could ride a ski that far ..I know that Jonathan would be board if he could only ride in the boat , but knowing that he could ride a ski ....he's in .
We need to boat up to the Conch House for lunch on some Saturday ..

Save your money for a UH-1 Huey ride at the balloon fest. Cobra rides for the bigger kids.

Isn't that like $450, plus on Sunday they said they might sell tickets for $5.

The $450 ride is in the Cobra and it's a fifteen minute simulated rocket attack over the mangrove/spoil islands. It's 'actual' save the firing of rockets..............

There is a shorter trip around the patch with some return to target maneuvering in the Cobra for $250, but the Cobra ride requires 17+ years.

The Iroquois UH-1 ride is $50 a person and is a trip around the air show perimeter 8-10 minutes.

The Sky Soldiers are a 510c charity toward the Army Veterans and all tickets are bonafide 'donations' and are tax deductible. I just claimed last years' ride on my return this year. I usually give $250 to the Vets anyway, so for another $200 I got to do what, until now you had to commit six years and maybe your life to; ride in an Attack Cobra with an active duty foreign war veteran at the controls. You can't get this chit from a history book.

But, I don't want to down play the Ford ride either. That's JUST as important to 'aviation'. Certainly more so to commercial aviation!

My ride form last year. This year I'm taking the kids on the Iroquois.

I wonder if they have media rides in that Cobra.....

<sigh>

That would rock but 450 is way out of my price range

lol, no doubt. When I was at the air show last year with the club I went over at the lunch break to grab a ride on the Iroquois. The line was hella long and it didn't look like I was going to be able to fit it in.

I kinda wandered out of the line and was just standing around. One of the pilot's asked if I was going to ride. Told him I wanted to but was doing this gig at the Inspiration Village blah, blah, blah and he pointed to the Cobra and said; "No waiting for this!" Thought he was kidding. I thought the fact they were giving rides on an active status military UH-1 was mind boggling, but a Cobra ride? Sheeeyeah right............. But as he started going on I realized he was serious. Then he dropped the cost of 'donation'. I laughed and said that was too rich for me. I turned to leave, got three steps and it hit me like a no brainer. An AH-1F Huey Attack Cobra ride? Hell, the day before we were setting up for the show and the Cobra arrived. I thought then the only way you get to ride on that bird is 'doing what real men do' or steal one.

I put it on a credit card, paid $75 a month plus interest for 6 months and got the certificate, the t-shirt, the video and the chance of a lifetime for skipping one meal out with the family a month.

No regrets. Cross that off the Bucket List. The full Crazy Horse P-51 pilot's Orientation ride? That might take a little more finagling, but, even if I have to sell one of my kids? I'm doing that next!

Awesome! Another Central Floriduh cold front coming through! We could use the rain, the wind, the mud and the return of 51 degree highs. Sweet! Not.
