Re: Fly'n with the Circus. RDRC's traveling Circus
...but as it got darker and we got wilder, the "Tootsie Roll" competition began. That's where you see who can do the lowest harrier rolls while not hitting the tarmac. And we put two shopping carts out there to fly passes between. I went out first as I knocked my motor off when my wingtip touched......we call that a "Tootsie Roll Pop"!....

...so I took a position behind one of the carts as camera man to catch the action. I was laughing so hard that it was hard to catch one in frame. But here's Jay's flagship pulling out after a pass.

And, in true Travelling Circus style, we don't stop, 'til we POP! So here's Jay's Yak needing a little buff out several minutes (and a couple of batteries) later.

Then Jay brought out the "Extra Stiffy" and Matt wore it out for us as the flying site got darker and darker. The peanut gallery kept up the heckling, too!

Re: Fly'n with the Circus. RDRC's traveling Circus
Of course, the night ended spectacularly but my camera ran out of batteries. Larry was fresh off his win in the Tootsie Roll competition and his well worn Yak was still in relatively good condition. So we "come on, it'll be funned" him through some some more death defying stunts until it until the lot claimed it. It broke the prop shaft right off the motor. You're the man Larry! Get that new Insane Yak together.
That capped off the day of fun. This was not a fly-in or an event. It was a typical day of flying with the RDRC Travelling Circus. We had a great time with all our visitors and look forward to much more of the same. Next stop - Crystal Coast Summer Sizzler, Morehead City, NC, July 14. Charge 'em up. .......ALL ABOARD! |

I beleive,if you look at those pics again, you'll see Jay Benson ("Tootsie Roll") walk'n out of the weeds, fist in air. Yup,thats him,,ole Tootsie Von Roller,,,,wave'n his I-Hitler fist at Capt Wall. Oh yea,,,,,the Jug is ready for combat boys. Neal (bubbaflys2) made the trip back up to Raleigh today, and we rolled the jugs wing into "LewCo's Rebuild Shop" She's good as new, but mad'er! Robert and Brandon, Sorry about my boy Larry, He still thinks he wins even when every body else sees it differently. The 190 was at the ready at days end. The jug on the other hand had its tail tucked tightly between its legs and in need of medical attention. Germany 1-1/2, Jug 1/2
