Rhetorical question really but why do we have to wait for an overseas shipment to get excited about? Can these models be produced in our country? Think about it, we were able to put men on the moon decades ago and now we can't even produce wood model planes at competitive prices. What's wrong with this picture?

I think that will soon be asking themselves the same question.

30 years ago, the great outsourcing wave took millions of US low-skilled jobs and planted them right in the heart of China, which was about to undergo the fastest industrialization-commercialization-financialization experiment in history. $26 trillion in bank assets later, the world's biggest housing bubble, and a teetering financial system that every day depends on Beijing making the correct central-planning decision or else the biggest financial collapse in history will take place, all lubricated by years of inflation in everything and most certainly wages, and suddenly outsourcing jobs in China is not all that attractive. In fact, it has gotten so bad that China itself is now forced to outsource its own labor to cheaper offshore markets like Ethiopia.

Puttputt, good comment. Just to make my position clearer, I'm not against free-trade or imposing tariffs on foreign, imported goods or anything of the like. I'm for allowing the US to be productive again by reducing the national deficit, lowering excessive taxation (borderline confiscation) and facilitating private entepreneurs to create more wealth and jobs as a consequence of the elimination of asphixiating government imposed regulations. That simple.

Carden sells a made in the USA kit for the same price as AW and EF sell an ARF. Consumers vote with their wallets and buy the ARF's.

Labor laws in our country choke out the low end jobs. My state is now imposing a $15/hr. minimum wage plus Obama care and all kinds of other labor laws. Its a job killer for those who are less educated and just starting out. I know as I do a lot of volunteer work in a homeless shelter.

True but no-one wants to work like that see image below. Always a fine line between decent work/wage conditions and affordable goods coming out of it.

Try working in the health care industry. Obama care is killing it. Hospitals all over the country are working the red scrambling to figure out what to do about it. All the while the really good doctors and going private and cash only basis.

Agreed - its not an easy call. But remember that those folks in the picture are probably doing better than their parents and their kids will do much better.
