IMO nothing. I set my throttle linkages up so that half trim is idle, low trim is kill and I really like it.

Others don't.

FWIW I have Futaba gear around and get along perfectly well with the digital trims.

I dont mind it with electric flight but with gassers the increments are too big and with digital it has a throttle trim for each model which means you dont have to re adjust the the trim. Its 2012 get rid of analog!!
The advantage is for people kill their motor (mainly glow guys) real quick, but if you have a gasser then you should have a kill switch anyway (its law here) no other advantage.

Like I said, set them all up to idle at mid and kill at low.

That said, go into the TRIM menu and decrease the value for the throttle trim to 50 or 60, it will desensitize the trim and give you finer control of the idle with the analog.

I was going to ask you how to slow the notches for the throttle but it looks like you have all ready answered the question.

Just remember if you up your alarm voltage it may prevent you from using the SD card slot to update or back up models. The radio has a built in safety that measures the difference between the battery voltage and the alarm voltage. If it doesn't measure enough difference in voltage the SD Card doesn't work.
