I also have a brand-new 38cc Mintor that needs an airframe to go into. I was actually considering the Extreme Flight 78" Extra (currently out of stock), but I am not sure about the performance I should be able to obtain with it, mainly because I read somewhere on the Mintor Motori web site that this engine is suitable for all-out 3D airplanes not exceeding 5 Kg (~11lbs). The Extra is spec'ed at 11.5 - 13 lbs. Have you flown your plane yet and, if so, what is your experience so far?

Any comments about this engine/airframe combination would be greatly appreciated.

I am now starting the installation. The standoffs will have to be shortened about 40mm and that will put the carb into the motor box. I am debating relocating the firewall, but I think shorter standoffs will be easier. A friend has the Mintor on a 12 pound Raven and it pulls it around like a foamie. My EF Extra weighed about 11.5 pounds with the Syssa 30 which swung a 18-6 or 18-5.5 prop, the Mintor 38 pulls a 20-6 so I have no doubt this will be a great combo.

The Mintor 38 will be plenty for the EF Extra.

i will hopefully have time monday or tuesday night to get the location for receiver and batteries figured out and balanced.

then on to setting deflections on control surfaces and other radio programming.

12 pounds 3oz? Are you using an IBE and single battery?

Pro flow and header add slightly, but that's still lighter than the old Pilot was.

I am setting it up with all 7955's on surfaces, 5685MH on throttle. Tech-aero Ibec will be used on ignition, 2x lipos for power, JR 921 rx receiver.

Starting out with a well broken in DLE-30 and vess 20A prop. i will report on this combination as my build is completed. However, when I get my hands on a DA-35 I will be doing a comparason. I will be running Planebender's pro-flow canister on both powerplants.

Pictures and video will be on its way as weather straightens out!
