Top Dawg Aviation. New Website, New Planes, New Products!

Hey guys, I just got off the horn with our good buddy Mr. Blaine Austin and he informed me that Top Dawg Aviation has been completely overhauled and is going to make a big splash in 2013. Blaine has a new website, new planes and a pile of new products that he is very proud of. And since we love to keep our FG members informed I thought we'd get the word out about his new stuff!

It's always a good idea to get to know the person who is designing and selling us airplanes! So here's pretty much everything you need to know about Mr. “Airplane Blaine” Austin.

Blaine grew up on a farm in a little town in Arkansas. He was fascinated with aircraft and flight at a very early age. As a kid (and probably still today), he was particularly excited by the crop dusters buzzing over his house and dodging trees while hugging the ground so they could spray the fields.

In his youth, Blaine was always very competitive both in high school and college sports. Throughout his athletic career he broke many National and State records, and still holds a few of them today. In 1986, while training for the Olympic trials in the Decathlon, Blaine was involved in a car accident in which he sustained a sports career ending injury.
While recovering, he attended a farm festival where he noticed a man flying an RC Plane attempting to raise money for the volunteer Fire Department. People were taking flying lessons on a trainer box for $5 for 5 minutes. Needing something to focus his energy on, Blaine gave it a try. Three quick charges and $50 later, Blaine was hooked.
After building his first plane, he wanted to show his best friend Jeff Dean what he had. To his amazement Jeff had also gotten into the hobby and had the exact same plane. Blaine's interest grew and between 1986 and 1991, he flew just about every kind of plane you could imagine. Because of his job, he moved around quite a bit and was forced to table the hobby until 1995. A job change relocated him to Nashville, TN where he was reunited with his old buddy Jeff Dean who had likewise gotten out of the hobby. They both got back into the hobby and have been very active ever since.
Blaine has the reputation for 'pushing the envelope', so naturally he was drawn to the 3D style of flying. In 1997 Blaine met Mike Sauls and they started flying together and were some of the first pilots around doing 3D. Blaine feels flying with Mike Sauls is what helped him become the pilot he is today.

In 2002, Blaine started the Extreme Aerobatic Club which holds 3D flying events throughout the country. The EAC was a venue for pilots from all around the country to come together and enjoy the fun and fellowship of model aviation. Pilots who attended these EAC events would no doubt say that the camaraderie and friendships that were made might not have been possible without this club. The EAC laid the groundwork for many of the 3D and aerobatic events that are held today.
Blaine is now starting his 23rd year of flying. You can also visit Blaine on his website at www.blaineaustin.com
In 2010 Blaine had the opportunity to purchase Dietrich Performance Aircraft. Blaine bought the business in January of that year and renamed it Top Dawg Aviation. Blaine feels very fortunate to have flown some great flying planes for 11 years being sponsored by Carden Aircraft. He feels that Carden puts out some of the best flying planes and best quality in the market. His goal is to produce an ARF that flies as good, and is the same quality that he’s become accustomed to.

Top Dawg Aviation is very excited to announce the launch of our new website. We have been working hard for the last few months to make a very user friendly website. We have also added over 150 new products.

A few of the products that we have added are a proprietary brand by Top Dawg called Pro-Lite Professional Series. We already have developed Carbon Fiber Spinners and Servo Extensions.

We are also very happy to announce our New 100cc Slick 540. We have raised the bar on ARF airplanes. We are offering something totally different to the ARF airplane community. The competition will be scrambling to reach the performance levels only a Top Dawg Aviation aircraft can bring. The Slick was designed to give both the IMAC and 3D flyer an airplane that out performs any plane on the market. It is also very docile so that any Sunday Flyer can handle like a pro. We spent over a year developing and test flying this airplane before releasing it to insure that you are getting a great flying airplane that cannot be matched in the RC industry. You can find a lot of airplanes on the market but the details and flying characteristics is what separates them. Take a look at the detail we are offering. You get over $150 worth of extras that you won't find in other kits. You will not find a match in the market place. We wanted to offer something different to the modeler so you don't have to go out and buy a lot of other equipment. Install your favorite engine and radio gear and go fly. Assembly takes about 6 to 8 hours. We will be offering it in two schemes with two colors on each scheme.

Wow! Sounds like Blaine has gotten really serious about turning out a great plane and increasing his bottom line. Congrats for sure.
Hey Blaine, you know any of the guys from the "Dog Pound", located off Hwy 109 towards Gallatin?

Juicesqueezer, I'm in Memphis. That close enough? There's a few fly-ins I usually try to make it towards the Jackson/Nashville area.

I have the prototype Slick that's in the picture, if anyone is ever near Kansas City you are welcome to come take a look at it. I am very happy with it, it's holding up great with over 300 flights on it.
