The Cap 232 has one of the best looking profiles but most are snap happy creatures. It does the best inverted harriers but not right side up. Not the best all round performer. I would say it won't happen for fear of these known facts about the plane. But I could be wrong?

Not true. A modern cap isn't any more snappy than an Extra, Edge, or Yak. And I have never had a plane more stable in an upright harrier than my old H9 33%.

this fallacy that caps snap easily is always made when talking about the design and from my experience its not true. the only times i have managed to snap the design unintended was during fast flight with 3d rates set to on, which can happen to any if not careful and then only in a tight loop or turn. a little expo takes care of that. the only other time snaps take place unexpectedly is when the wing loading is too high. then it snaps with high rates in medium turns once the tail lets go. other than those two situations they are no more likely to snap than any other model. I've built a glens model and toni clark cap 232 and 231, neither had surprises in store during flight. what makes caps unpopular is the amount of mixing needed to equal out the coupling of the design. any low wing model, even the hurley extra had considerable coupling compared to near 0-0-0 designs of today
oh and to answer the thread originators question toni already said he hadnt plans for the cap with all the others he had on his list. building one from the many kits or plans out there is the only way so far.

Hmm wonder were the term "snap cap" came from then? Just saying. Haven't had the chance to fly a lightened version, but have flown many others all those were snap happy. probably too heavy?

YES!! Caps are awesome. Properly set up that are UBER stable. A 40% Carden Cap was a harrier machine and did walls like no other airplane. I LOVE CAPS. Set up is everything, Low rates on my Carden Cap was like 7 deg low ele, and 13deg high ele. And then 3D rates were as much as you could get. It never snapped out!

The snout is the 2nd best ever made. (Only behind Leo's Laser!)

mate of mine had the gp cap and that never snapped to my knowledge but it may have been close. his weighed 30 pounds with smoke and i believe was 100" span. to me thats very heavy for its size. 25 pounds would have been better. some of the older arf's where smaller and heavy for their size, this may be the reason were the term comes from

It would be nice if someone would raise the wing just enough to squeeze in some pipes, even if they had to sit in a tray.

yeah i downloaded a plan of a mid wing version recently, when i start building it i have room to fit a tunnel in there but a custom made canister can be used to occupy the space between wing tube and former. no reason why a pipe cant go over the wing tube with a fancy header as long as the tube is not made from carbon

It came from crappy designs...years ago. There have been a few newer designs that fly well.

Hopefully the extreme flight cap is still in the plans.
