CARF 2.1m Yak 55

Getting close to finishing my first Giant Scale build. Really excited to fly it. Anyone else have this model? What were your thoughts?

Pictures to come!

I'm liking mine, only had 10 flights on it so far but it flys very honest and the power to weight on mine is phenominal, mind you mine is Electric .

I had it until I plugged the ailerons in backwards and took of without a pre-flight! It was a great flying plane, balanced well and very stable. Floats in for a very predictable landing... have fun, and always remember to test the sticks before hitting full power!

What do you have your receiver mounted on ckeene9? It looks like a carbon plate of some kind, if it is your 2.4 receiver won't be a happy camper!

Yes, it is a piece of carbon and yes I have range checked and it's A Ok. But thanks for the heads up!

Did your plane come with the yellow stars on the cowling or was that added by you?

Yeah...dont let them tell you carbon and spektrum dont get a long. My 3.0 Comp-Arf Yak has 2 JR R921 recievers sitting on a nice carbon fiber plate...I get no drops fades or anything else that could compromise flight. I have lots of carbon fiber in that plane and have never had an issue with well over 100 flights.

Hey.. missed you at the field today! Yep, I went, and it wasn't too bad. Pretty windy, but it would settle down enough to land, so all was good. BTW.. the 32x12 is MUCH quieter than the 10, and pulls it vertical for as long as you want to go... think I'll stick with it.

Have to finalize the fuel system, install the batteries, and cut up the cowling. Looks like a Tuesday maiden!!

Got the engine tuned up tonight.

Nope, stuck with the Beila. Its a little wider than the Mejzlik, but lighter and probably a little slower, but it definately quietens it down.

Wednesday is looking like a good day to be sick...I may have to head to the air field to cure my ailness. I think you might be coming down with something too.

All is good then I cut the yellow stars myself from some scrap vinyl. Didn't want it too dressed up that's why I didn't go with a commercial package.

Good luck with the maiden!

Unfortunately, I think I'm toast until Sunday...
The weather's supposed to be crap for Monday and Tuesday, I've got an all day meeting in Atlanta on Wednesday, Chicago on Thursday, and Charlotte on Friday. Saturday is cub scout community service... convieniently enough its clean-up day on the Etewa river... right on Old Federal Road... but then we have to go home to do something with the fam on Saturday evening.... so, its either Sunday or next week!
