Re: New Equalizer 10 Announced

Turbo regs and Equalizer 10 sounds like a good setup for my next plane.

How many of us really need to match 32 servos on 10 different channels? Most of us have 2 or 3 servos per aileron and 1 or 2 per elevator. If your using hitecs servos, which this unit seems to be designed for. You probably have or have access to a programmer. I thought we had the ultimate setup with the EQ10. But im not so sure anymore. Might as well just get the expander pro and a regulator and use the hitec programmer to set up the servos. Comes out cheaper. I'm not trying to bash Smart-fly. I own several of their products and love them. I just think this unit is not meant for a broad range of users. Time to get off my pedestal.

I talked with Bob a long time ago........simply put it was the same price to match all those servos or just match 3 ports......so he chose all the servos.

Matching servos is the reason that this power expander was developed. It was the main point of this unit. If you don't need to match servos this is not the unit for you.

These units are a Power expander with all channels adjustable for servo matching. I have found the adjustment to have a lot finer increments then the Powerbox. Bench testing has been completed and I am now fitting it into my Comp-Arf 2.6 Extra.

Re: New Equalizer 10 Announced

So what if it doesn't have a regulator? Woop de doop. Powerbox is still like $500. Equalizer 10 @ $250 + Turbo Reg @ $85 = $335.. Plus, Kiwi's saying this one has finer matching increments. Worth it if you ask me. Not to mention these things look real nice inside a plane. I'm definitely getting one.

Compared to a Matchbox. How much better is the adjustment?

Thanks

It has double the resolution compared to the matchbox.

Hey Alan is the unit released yet or are you prototype testing. Ive asked this before but is the turbo reg gonna come out with 7.2-7.4 max output soon can u email the bloke if you know him. I still want a constant voltage to servos at 7.2v in particular.

Re: New Equalizer 10 Announced

I dont think you will see a 7.2-7.4 volt regulator anytime soon. I think you might be suprised if saw the voltage drop under a (heavy but realistic) load of some of the li ion batteries.

Alan does have one of the hand built proto type units. There isn't any production models yet.

3Dubya,

As Tony stated. You can have a look and a play with it when you come over for the Imac TT. I can take you through their product range and explain how the components interact and match combinations for different requirements.

Cheers
Alan

Sounds like a pretty cool expander. If one has a match box plane, -I'd- go with it.

I don't know why some people feel the need for even more voltage. I mean, three 5955's, or 8711's on one aileron is like 52LBS of torque! Thats enough to lift a small child!
