Re: A.M.R. Giant Stick

I am keeping an eye on this thread. I am really thinking about getting one. Here is what I have to tide me over till I get extra money to put one on the table. Not nearly as big, but still fun.

Nice video.

I had one of them. I started with a OS 1.60 and then changed to a Fuji 43. Totally different animal with the 43 on it. Goes like stink and will do some incredible things. Takes off in 20 feet and goes verical, does knife edge circles with about a 50' diameter. It is all on pure power. It has to be the easiest landing plane ever, even in extreme cross winds. I sold it to a friend last July and it is his favorite plane to take to the field.

Hummmm, now you guys got me thinking. I have a Great Planes Giant Stick with a 35 MVVS gas on it and it fly's great. I have a recently freed up Brelli 46 that I could put up front and get a 3 blade prop for it.....These Sticks are a lot of fun to punch holes with.....

I am just about to get back to work on the tail section downstairs. A friend of mine is looking at getting his first 100cc plane and wants to buy my DL100 so I may end up with my DA85 in this now, we'll see what happens...

They already have one. Pedro has his ready to fly right now with a DA 150 on it. He is just waiting right now for the weather to get better to maiden it. I'll try and get the link for the thread he started.

AMR has the playing field covered for large scale Sticks. It is a great line up and a nice addition to their line of scale kits.

Re: A.M.R. Giant Stick

AMR makes a great kit, I've built two Nosen Sticks over the years and they are a real pain. Got one of the first Stick85's from AMR and could not believe how fast it went together. A great flying plane. I put some taller, wider gear on it along with some pants. DL111 up front and still needed 2 lbs of lead.
Jerry.

Looks real nice Jerry.

Here is the tail group so far. I have the horizontal stab glue and block sanded and I am ready to start glueing the elevator parts together next.

I got the tail feathers done except for the hard points for the horns and hinges. Everything has been block sanded and did a test fit. If I get time tomorrow I will put in the hard points and hinges. I put a yardstick in the one picture for a size reference.

Lots of sanding though to get all of the seems nice and baby smooth so they will not show through the covering. I am going to try and get all of the edges sanded and the control surfaces hinged these days off. I am not sure if I will get them done as I have been called in to work overtime these days off.
