I downloaded the manual quite a while back and I don't see the manual on the Dalton website but I can e-mail it to you. It will help to get a start by reading it through a few times.

I would like to suggest that you check starting at post #25 of this thread to reference cowl assembly

May save you some grief. There is nothing out there about it and tony knows.

I've got a set of plans if Tony can't get them to you. Might have a manual also.

some questions for the experts, can anyone help?

1. can i, or should i, substitute the spruce stringers and replace with carbon fiber ones?

2. do you believe this will be stronger and lighter than the alternative spruce ones, considering the carbon fiber ones will be whole length and not spliced?

3. should i use hollow or solid ones?

4. what should i use to cut the foam in wings / stabs for the servo boxes and the tunnel for the leads?

5. is there anywhere else others have applied carbon fiber to reinforce it?
Wings/stabs/fin?

if so, what shape / dimension of carbon fiber

thank you

i heard From Tony today. he is awesome. he has already sent me the plans and the manual, with some hard-wood. Excellent service. he also does not recommend or see any advantage to using CF stringers. so i will not use them. also, i got a PM from Mattymatt, and he is an experienced Dalton builder, and he states to also just use the spruce stringers. so i will definitely use the spruce ones as well.

i ordered a J&J tailwheel. anyone use this tailwheel before on a Dalton.

i am excited. got home from a hard day at work, i am still on call, but i saw a package in front of door!! it was my plans and the manual with some wood as well. Tony came thru and on the fly!
Thank you Tony!!
i was able to set up the aluminum rails over the plans on my flat surface, then i placed the Motor box with the side fuselage reinforcement and the tail, then i cut the spruce from the left over cuts from the fuel tank support beams. 1/4" square.
this was clamped in placed and glued in. now it is curing, i will check on it tomorrow. i also got my tail wheel in today. i have to see where it is on other daltons relative to the hinge line, so that i can do prelim installation of the J&J TW.
