I've been out of the hobby for a few years and I've been looking at pre-owned planes and I've seen several giant scale Laniers for sale. My question is...is Lanier still making planes, if not when did they stop? Thanks

Lanier along with Goldberg which Lanier owned were acquired by Great Planes in the summer of 2007! Soon after all production was stopped and inventory was liquidated.

Since then, Bubba Spivey who owned Lanier has passed.

Many of the products were becoming dated and perhaps the sale was timely. I still own and occasionally fly a Laser and a Staudacher though they are largely just hanger queens these days.

I built the 1/3 scale Laser 200 many years ago now, was an excellent airplane.

RIP Bubba!! We had some good times!

Oh the stories I could tell of being with Bubba in Vegas and Dallas in the early 90's!

The last time Bubba and I tore it up was in Toledo and it involved two local cops. He always dodged harms way with style!
