You been flying yours much? Mines in the trailer right now---
Mine came in at 47 pounds and it balanced at 70mm aft of the bottom leading edge without adding any ballast.

I haven't flown it since January!!! In what little time off I have had, I have done quite a bit of work to it during the non-flying season. I added a Turbulator, which meant taking off the engine. I replaced the original flying wires with the Aeroscale ones. And I replaced the receiver in order for it to work with the XG11, and then had to replace the Powerbox Royal with the Competition. So I basically had to reprogram the entire setup from start to finish. That was a PITA! But it is starting to cool down now and it is ready to go back in the trailer.

70! Wow! How did it land? mine was starting to drop the tail on short final and I found myself with a little FORWARD elevator, relaxing the forward pressure for the flare. Then I read where Richo is balancing AT the leading edge of the bottom wing. My and your bird weighs about the same. The plane didn't seem to mind the weight at all.

at 70mm it flew great. just 2 blips of down trim first time airborne. landed beautifully! it can go even further back, but i don't feel it needs to...at least not yet.

(remember, a more forward cg requires more downforce on the stab, which requires more lift from the wing at a given speed to maintain altitude, therefore stall speed increases. anyway, i like it at 70, and definitely won't go forward, if anything will move rearwards)

the weight is no problem. the moki 250 seems a match made in heaven with the C-arf Python. sounds insane and gobs of power. if you love to hover for hours on end, then a 4cyl like the DA200 is better, but for everything else, this combo is perfect.

Anyone still following this thread? I should get my S-12 in around Thanksgiving.. I'm curious about the big swings in CG location... anywhere from above the lower leading edge to 70mm behind that. That's a HUGE difference. Mongrel, did you move yours back, and what did you think?
