Hey Jason,

Will be heading down to Florida Jets in another week..........I could easily transport the plane down with me and "search" for volunteers to fly it and report back.......:-)

Ahhhhh...somebody is withholding information, we will have to see about this.
Good luck with the training...

Right now I'm on the west end of Lambert and play with a Q400 and ERJ 170 every night.....Next month we are moving the sims to our new building over on the east end..Then in addition I'll be playing with the other two 170's, three 145's, CRJ 200 and 700/900, then a couple other smaller ones.

Who is your training with?

Cool, I looked up those places....I guess the EMB 120 is about the same size as the SAAB 340? We have a SAAB in STL.

I noticed that they also fly Metro III's, KLA flies a Metro II also...we have both of those sims too. They are both many years old, but still fly. Not a lot of them sims around anymore.

Just to give you a brief history of the plane. I approached Rocco about three years ago about this airplane and he was really receptive to the idea. About 12 months later we got a prototype over here which came directly to me. After flying the first one at 43 lbs, it was close, but needed some aerodynamic and weight changes. Rocco and I spent quite some time discussing wing spacing, stab locations, incidences, etc... It was important to me to make sure the plane looked like it was flying straight in the air even if it wasn't. About 100 changes later, and 6 months later we got proto number two. My wife and I had took a trip out to Denver after Rocco had written down over 250 changes of minor stuff to fly the airplane. 4 lbs lighter, and CG in tact, I was like a kid in a candy store. I all the sudden had renewed interest in Giant Scale airplanes that had been slipping over the years from being so repetitive. At that time, we got video, but the video ended up being lost. (Sorry). In any case, I have been flying proto number two for quite some time and between both prototypes I have over 500 flights on them. I couldn't be more happier with the design or how well the quality of the airplane is! Just a few things I want to highlight about the airplane that make it bit more unique than your typical bipe.

1) It has a 9% airfoil (Hanger 9 I believe is 13%) This allows the Ultimate to snap as well positive as negative. In the past with previous Ultimates this has been quite some trouble doing positive snaps.

2) NO flying wires with a 9% airfoil!

3) Air-foiled stab and vertical fin (great for 3D! better departure for snaps)

4) Top and bottom wings as well as stab are all on the same flying plane so you won't have any funny mixes on up-lines or knife edge. Don't take this for the airplane not needing any mix, it does, as much as your typical monoplane does.

5) Rolling maneuvers transitioning from knife edge to upright or vice versa are now much easier. You don't get the tail drop that you would normally get with monoplanes in knife edge.

My favorite part about this airplane is the fact that it flies like a monoplane with biplane looks and advantages!

I hope that many of you can enjoy this airplane as much as Rocco and I have and will. It's certainly got me excited about Giant Scale Aerobatics again!

Thanks!
Jason
Thanks for the truth on the matter, and the both of you have done a great job on this one.

Amflight has a much better reputation. I have several friends that went to Amflight, seems more of a professional operation, less of a 134.5 that you see in the freight world sometimes. I imagine the professionalism of Ameriflight also extends to their training department.

Cool. From what I have seen out of both companies they seem to be very proffesional. I have been offered the job at Key Lime, haven't been offered the job at Ameriflight yet, but seems to be promising. You or any of your buddies have any pull at Ameriflight? Thanks for the info.

One of them is a check airman on the Metro but I don't think any of them are in the hiring department. Hopefully you'll get some good news from Ameriflight; getting any job in aviation now, especially one flying turbine equipment, is a bit of a blessing. Good luck!
