I tune mine as soon as I get it running. I start with their settings, which are rich, then lean it from there. I had to lean my low quite a bit. Then after it broke in I had to lean the low some more. Ear tuning is fine but generally you tune the low for the fastest transition, the high for highest peak RPM. When you reach the flat spot where the peak RPM doesn't go up anymore, back it of to where it stopped going up, or a smiggen rich of there. The engine should hold peak RPM for 5 seconds or so without sagging. Just don't run it WOT too long on the ground or you'll over heat it. Let it cool down to avoid heat soak....if you overheat it, you cannot tune it.

Hi all, just received my new 540T 88. Extremely satisfied with the quality of this ARF! Looking forward to building this thing after Christmas. Im planning on picking up most of the components at the upcoming AMA expo in CA. Will be running a DLE 55 with Jtec wrap around Pitts. Looking forward to getting everyone's input on best practices with this plane. This is also my first post since joining the Giants. I'll get some photos up soon!

I have a barely used DLE 55 that I plan to put in mine also, and am thinking Proflow. But being a noob to canisters, should I buy front or rear dump for this bird?

Rear dump fits very well on the Edge. The Proflows are fantastic IMHO. Really compliments the DLE, just like 4spd said.

Jtec claims no loss of power with the pitts. Will you really get that many more RPM's with the proflow? Noise isnt an issue at our field.. I have already ordered the engine and pitts mufler. Will be a brand new engine. Ive got one on my extra with stock beer can muffler. Its very loud 106 db. Trying to get under 100 db with the pitts. Would also like to come up with some way for the air to exit the cowl as i live in AZ. Any ideas? Thinking of using the pipe tunnel and doing some fabricating.

you may get an increase of up to 300 rpm i think. if noise isnt an issue, the smoothness of the proflow is your benefit! the pitts is not going to be quiet!
