baffle advice

hey folks, looking for some advice on baffles on my PRC sbach with dle 111.

my previous baffles (the black ones) are still ok to use if i wanted but i was playing with different ideas.

tbh the cowl shape doesn't lend itself well to doing this but hey ho, cracking on.

so there is a pic of one side mocked up. basically there only way for air to get out is through the fins. there are no gaps anywhere else and the cylinder is full enclosed.

so can anyone suggest if the new one will be better or can suggest something. if you could please show pics. remember this cowl isn't as easy to do as say an extra etc.

cheers

I've seen this configuration once or twice up here, and I have to ask, what about the fins on the bottom?

Impulse, when this style of baffling is use air is taken into the opening and has no place to go but down through the cooling fins and out your air exit. So the bottom of the fins recieves plenty of cooling as well

This lightweight craft foam works great. I got mine in a 4 layer piece and just seperate it to 1 1/4" piece, also use it behind for support also. Painted with Pactra Aero-Gloss Hot fuel proof dope/jet black

Guys I wish I could get that creative foam but you cant buy it in uk.

I have bought a few diff types of craft foam and none of them like heat.

If anyone has a source for the foam please let me know.

So the general feeling is I should go with the enclosed option and ditch the current black one?

Cheers

That stuff looks like Extruded Poly Ethylene.
There is also a foil and EPE version that is heat insulating or reflective (depending on whether you want to keep heat in or out)

Yup, makes a 220 + mph race engine when converted to glow and boost ported..'weighs almost 14 lbs converted..Hard to break unless run too lean..Don't ask...
There's one in here, completely baffled..Can't even see the cylinders under the cowl, complete control of temps..
