DL 150???

I am impressed enough with the DL 100 that I would certainly have another of their products. I have heard whispers around the traps of a DL 150. Is there such animal yet, or likely to be one in the near future?.
If not, is there a budget style 150 out there similar to the DL. I really dont want to pay the ridicules price a DA is costing over here. I can buy a pretty good car for the cost of the DA 150 at the moment...... A 170 is just off the planet cost wise.
And before all the smartasses tell me to fly a car, I am of the opinion that these engines are waaaay overpriced..... and nothing you can say will change my mind. They aint nothing special to be worth what they cost.

Hell no. I thought DA was made of ground up babies....... they exhibit all the same traits. loud, expensive, smell bad and dirty around the exit.

I play with real ones for a living and they are expensive. I do have a problem paying what we pay for the joy of playing with giants. It certainly is in exponentially similar to the real ones.

Haha, yeah, I play with the full scale ones as well. And you are right, costs climb exponentially with both. I can remember when we updated Avionics on my father's 172, nothing major, a Garmin 430 and some other goodies... ouch, that bill hurt. Atleast the upgrade helped when we moved up to a Dakota.

I see your point but at the same time it's pretty simple to find your way around these issues. Given the introduction of the DA170, it's not difficult to pick up a good quality used DA150 for $900 or less - just find the right engine and start negotiating. Maybe a DL150 is on the horizon and if you can't stand the idea of using DA engines because they engineered their product, rather than copying it, and are trying to turn a profit, then sit on your hands until DL have had time to copy someone else's work.

Hmmm went from a Cessna to a Dodge

DL has to come out with a 75 or 80 first then it can copy the 150 or 170... Sooner or later dealers in the U.S. will jack each other enough though that we will only have DA left. You still cannot compare DA to DL it all ends after the D in the name.

Haha, kinda! Except this one cruises a lot faster than a dodge without taking a chance that the wheels might fall off!

Re: DL 150???

I'm not really interested in arguing about who has the better motor. They are almost six for one and half a dozen for the other in that respect. I am looking for a cost effective engine that will drag my plane around and not require a mortgage on my house to acquire..

That would be my hope, but with the ozzy paso doing what it is, noone will be buying the 170 around these parts for a while. I would be happy to pay the AUD 900 for a second hand engine, I think that would be a fair price.

So working on that theory, should I be driving a chev or a ford........certainly nothing Japanese or Korean.
Geez, thats just a silly way to look at it. when did DA design the two cylinder, horizontally opposed, aircooled two stroke engine??.
then you have this statement.

so what is it then?. is it a copy, and therefore the same. Or is it a different engine, and can't be compared?.
Gawd, all I want is an engine that is priced according to what its worth, and in my opinion there are engines out there being charged at waaay more than they are worth.
Meanwhile, back to the thread subject......... The MVVS is reasonably priced. are they OK?.
