I have the Hacker A60-6XS on a 72" Extra 330SC right now pushing about 2500 watts on 8S. Don't know if that would be too much though. I know it has more power than my Mintor 33 did. I can pull about the same with a 20x10 prop on 6S so I suppose that could be an option.

I would like to get the "scale" WWI prop that Xoar offers to complete the look. I obviously don't need bananas power with a L-4, but extra bailout power would be nice. At least this way I can use the same batteries if need be.

Sounds great. I know a mintor 33 would fly the heck out of these.I have mintor 38 in my hempel decathlon and its perfect. I just swapped out an os 33 for electric and on 10s 1700 watts its close to the same power. If you go electric on one of these please do a build log here. Thanks

We are flying off the golf course and the electrics are more friendly. I still have my os 33 and all my other gas powered planes . I converted another large plane to electric and its nice to just install a battery and fly. Also i will keep this updated with power system info.
For the record the 0S 33 is a wonderful engine.

I just finished mine. I installed the DLE 35 rear exhaust. A couple of points for those interested in installing this engine. You'll need to cut 1.25 inches off the firewall to get the motor back far enough. You'll need 1/4" spacers behind the standoffs to clear the muffler of the firewall. I placed the fuel tank in the tunnel area to make it easier to deal with throttle and choke rods.

Bill's guys that do painting must be getting better at matching colors as the cowl is a perfect color match unlike my 40% clipped cub.

Have not flown it yet as the weather has been rather crappy. Hope to get it up sometime in Nov.
Jerry.

Quick Update. Tacon 160 Hobby wing 100 amp esc 19x8 apc electric prop .Turnigy 10 s 5000 mah 20 .Pulled 68 amps 2700 watts. Balance perfect.Maiden flight was the most uneventful ive ever had. No trim.straight and level half throttle take off.Flew perfect Half throttle loops no problem. Full throttle vertical out of sight.Landed did a quick once over no issues so i did a full throttle take off it did maybe 20 foot roll and straight up.1500 watts would probably be perfect. Here is a few pictures of battery placement etc.

Edit. 6 minute flight with several full throttle take offs and climbouts used 1450 mah from the packs. looks like 15 minute flights will be no problem

FYI,

ALL airplanes comes complete with full hardware kits now. This hardware included's titanium pro-links, ball links, control arms for all surfaces, pull/pull for rudder, tail wire bracing, tail wheel, main wheels. Some of the ARFs comes with pilots and C/F spinners too, depending on the model. Check out www.billhempel.com for the latest information. Thanks.

Just ordered one of these on Monday. Should be here next Monday. Does anyone remember what is needed for servo extensions? I'm guessing a y harness for the el servos and then 1 long ext. to get to the rx. Do I need a 48" or will36" do the trick? I think I saw somewhere the wings are 45" is a 24" going to get me to the fuse or do I need 36" there? I have to pick my engine up tomorrow so I would like to get these while I'm at my "local" shop. That shop is only 70 miles away.
