As you can see in my build thread that was linked, I used 14s 12.6Ah. That gives me 8 minutes or so without holding back on power. Should be more than enough power for this plane. It might even be overpowered.

The only problem is swinging a big enough prop, but I am sure Plettenberg could be talked into making a lower kv motor to get this bird electrified...

Weight of my setup is 2 kg for motor/spinner/prop, 4.5 kg for the batteries and 270 grams for the ESC. That is 6.7 kg, or 14.7 pounds for the entire powersystem.

How much would a complete DA170 system weigh incuding everything and fuel? Or a DA200 since that is the equivalent performance.

That one sounds really sweet!! How about going with a BME 116 on it? A pound lighter and more power, or would you run into CG problems?

Currently the prototype fuse is framed and I'm pushing as hard as I can to get this flown before too much snow flies here in Iowa.

I do not want to say much more then the following until I'm confident my goals will be met:

Length: 104" w/o spinner
Span: 119"
Target Weight: 28 lbs (hopefully less)
Power: Piped 85 or 100 on standard mufflers (I have not decided yet)

Now, back to your previously schedule Sensei BAD ASS build thread

Tell me its a Su-26

Re: Ultra Light 55% Extra 260

i'm glad that kevin and bob have let the cat atleast part of the way out of the bag! LOL!

Kevin is really bustin' his butt to get some stuff to market that will absolutely change the way we have been thinking about giant scale aircraft. these 40+% airframes that are designed properly enough and light enough to fly on a 85-100cc powerplant will open up the door for many who didn't want to have to buy 170's and 200's to pull their planes around.

I would like to go on the record, as kevin did, and thank Bob Sawyer yet one more time. without his guidance and creativity, we would have been much, much further down the road before we could introduce something as amazing as what is on the horizon.

THANKS SENSEI!!! We are honored to be your students and even more so to be your friend!

I want to run the stock exaust, and it looks like the stacks just might come out far enough too.
