The biplane is a spray plane called an Eagle. 300 horse engine, and a HUGE wingspan, around 55 ft!!

Hmm... so let's say Jet A was $5.50 (higher than what I'm seeing at some spots up there)... 'bout $600 for a half hour flight?

I'm not rich, but that actually sounds reasonable for getting to fly in a piece of history

Any chance we can push it out to the end of the runway and fly one pattern? LOL!

Seriously though, I have a feeling I might take you up on that in the future. I've never flown in a small jet.

Re: Full scale F-86 rebuild thread

The F-86 is actually a Canadian-built Canadair Mk VI with a Mk V 6-3 hard wing (no leading edge slats). This one has the Orenda-14 motor in it, one of the biggest ever put the the airframe. It originally went to South Africa and was the second to last one they had. It was sold to Tracor/Flight Systems and spent the last several decades as a target tower. It was bought by a private individual back on 2005, and flown up to Bozeman 2 years ago by the venerable Stu Eberhardt of Reno and Collings Foundation notoriety. That's about it off the top of my head, it was made in the early '50's and would be the equivalent of a F-86E, with the flying tail, etc.

Re: Full scale F-86 rebuild thread

Guys, sorry for the long delay...busy flying all over this rock we live on. I have a few days off between flights to NZ, and here is an update on our Sabre. We're hopeful that it will be back in the air by April, as long as nothing on the annual raises any red flags.

For those of you who were guessing at the scheme, I tried to give you hints by saying comments like, "Think about it for a MINUTE, MAN". Anyway, here you go:

Here she is after the masking paper came off:
