PRO-FLOW.... no need to GET ON THE PIPE...smooth transition.....no throttle curve per se.. reduced sound imprint...enhanced performance over all....maybe even more cost effective....MOST IMPORTANTLY ALL AMERICAN MADE.....Just my opinion

Prow Flow Canister or Greves Tuned Pipe??
I haven't used the Greves but used the R-3s I went to the Pro-Flows. As soon as I did this the DA-170 became a totally different and reliable motor it was designed to be.
I don't fly 3-D anymore but hear they are great for that.
I do fly Imac and have found the throttle transition is better than any tuned pipe out there.

Well, considering the weather we have had he in PA, I was finally able to get my DA 170 out and get some flying in this past weekend.

I am a happy flyer now. These Pro Flow Cannisters have made my day.

I too had problems with the way my engine ran on MTW 110, RE3's and KS 95's. I swapped out my recent MTW's and chopped the headers. Now I am smiling again. I was able to get nice even throttle changes and transitions without much difficulties. I am still getting the needles dialed in, but flying 3D without the worry of the hesitations make me feel better. I was getting no throttle responce during TR'n and after long low throttle runs. That is a problem when hanging on the prop and the plane starts tail sliding because the throttle would not respond. Issue free from what I am experiencing now.

All I can say is "Thank You Dave Sullivan" for taking the time to figure out the problems this engine was having on cans and pipes.

Father Don....... Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences with the Pro Flows when I called a few months ago. These things just work. Thanks for sharing your joy with these cans.
Can't wait to get these cans on my 200 now.

It seems that 10 1/2 is the magic # for the DA 170, However, two different people suggested a little longer header length on the DLE 170. Can anyone tell me the magic # for that combo , running modified DA 170 headers 70 mm drop.

I'm pretty certain that Brett from Chief was running a DLE 170 with 10.5" headers and had perfect performance. He cut them down to that while at FX3D and I was a witness; it improved his power going from the stock length. I'm sure Dave can also confirm 'cause I only know enough to be dangerous.

Brett is one of two who suggested a little longer. Thank you for your response. Dave told me 10.5. and that should be as good as gold. Just double checking before I cut.

I just got back from the field tonight, and all I can say is WOW !!!!!!!!

I did a good tuning on mine and a friends DA 170's with new Pro Flow cans installs and both engines are running perfectly. Both of our engines have never run this good. We are part of the true believers for sure now.

Two Happy Onwers here for sure.

I think the DA-170 needs to be able to breath to be happy. The Pro-flows make it happen. Quiet, but no back pressure.

I have one on Pro-Flows and one on RE3's and both are happy. Neither of mine wants to run perfectly on mufflers or other canisters. I love the sound of the Pro-Flows.

Hi Wylie, I believe that Brett told me that he did pull the header out 1/2" and liked it a little better. Thus making the header length 11" with a 3/16th" gap. Let me know.
