Because YS engines have a very thirsty taste for 30% Nitro heli fuel. Last I bought some for the 110FZ I have, it was $40.00 a gallon and the 110 will burn an ounce a minute....

I'd just go electric in this case. You'll likely end up with a lighter setup and you can get the Kv to match the prop you're looking to run.

Still looking for a fairly high KV motor, would like to stick with six cells and a smallish diameter prop.

I'm with acerc - scratching my head here.
If I go to the link you provided and look under the "Specs" tab, they show 18 and 20" 2 blade props, so I assume there's room. What am I missing? How/why is your plane different enough where you're thinking 14" is max?

They're also suggesting much bigger engines?

Not saying you're wrong, just trying to follow along trying to satisfy my curiosity.

Recommended engine for that plane was a 30-35cc?? a 120 four stroke has a very good power to weight ratio.. sure the gassers are getting lighter but there still is a weight penalty. you will need a good 30cc motor to equal the performance of the 120 four stroke outfitted plane.. since 30cc have been blown up to 35cc at the same weight you are most likely to end there.. a 20 will fly it.. but you wont have the performance the 120 four stroke would give and a lot less than a 30-35cc motor...

And I don't see that anything over 15" diameter will work. That is why I'm thinking of a small, high pitch prop . I actually used an APC 14X10 on a DLE20 and it seemed to work well, that was on an Ugly Stik/3D Farm "racer". Just wondering if anyone else had any experience with a similar setup.

N726AC, please explain to us why you continue to say you can't see anything over a 15" prop, when "acerc" has quoted the manufacturer's calling for an 18x8 -20x10 prop? ...

Confirmed, 14x12 APC is what we were flying on out 60 size warbirds and the 20's loved them!
Somewhere around 138 MPH and took off fine/revved up as well.
