Crazy, never would have suspected a loose plug cap associated with radio interference.

Me neither.

I would have thought that the engine would have mis-fired, which would have attracted my attention right from the beginning.

Anyway, next time I will start from this end and it will be on the other end.

Glad you got it fixed!


Actually, a loose plug cap is a pretty common cause of RFI. The reason is, the cap forms a shield to keep rf from the spark out of your radio. An electrical spark is a natural broad-band source of intense radio frequency energy, and was the basis for the first radios built.


Some guys put a small hose clamp around the cap to keep it tight.

Maybe because they are on long extensions (42"). The rudder is Pull/Pull and connected directly to the Rx, the ailerons have a 4" extensions. It surprised me as well, but..................
